I used to, but it seemed like it always changed the consistency of the sauce in a way I didn't like. I think the pasta absorbs too much liquid from the sauce while baking. If you want a crispy topping then you're better off just broiling it or frying the breadcrumbs and butter in a pan until crispy then using it as a topping after.

Boil macaroni al dente
Drain
Toughen the noodles a bit by frying in a skillet (optional)
Mix with sauce, adding cheddar cheese to thicken (add a teaspoon of smoked paprika for flavor)
Put in glass baking pan, and throw it in the oven for 10 minutes at 400°F
Take it out, lowering the temperature to 200°F
Use crumbled Garlic Butter Ritz crackers to coat the surface
Bake for 15 additional minutes
