Yall fans recommend cast iron crap, it can't fucking fry an egg, I want my 15 euro back cunts 0jRV8

>> No.17389974

Cast iron is for a fattier type of cooking if you are frying eggs. If you like to use very little to no fat, then cast iron isn't a good choice.

Just use a tiny dash of mild dish soap and you're golden, then after washing it let it dry on the still hot stove, if water remains it WILL rust, once it's dry rub some oil on to protect it because it WILL rust. Yes the oil will become rancid that's why you have to use the pan regularly so this doesn't happen.

those streaks look like where the seasoning "took" or started to take. depends on if they're sticky or not. sticky means it was starting to polymerize and needed more heat for longer.

you want a very thin layer of oil and for it to heat until smoking (an outdoor grill or electric hotplate works great here). wipe clean and repeat. let all that smoke go out into the yard and bypass your fire alarms and instincts.

the only cleaning i do is hot water with a nylon brush. just to help remove any burned-on bits and to rinse out residue. no soap. no hard abrasives or cleaners. just hot water and bit of scrubbing. if you require more cleaning, add water and bring to a boil. drain, scrub, rinse, repeat as necessary. then wipe with thin layer of oil to protect.

some people just overthink things. do any of you guys own a sheet pan that you've neglected to clean and it's black now and cookies slide right off of it? same thing here.
