>Heat pot
>Add a little oil
>Add butter and wait for it to melt
>Pour in popcorn
>Season with salt
>Put lid on and shake the shit out of it
Used to make it in a pot and it's the best popcorn I've ever had. Air popped was good too, just not as good. I rarely eat popcorn now, but when I do I just get a bag of what I used to eat when I was a lil mafck and rented videos.

>What do you put on popcorn?
cooked stovetop in olive oil or butter flavored orville oil
melted butter drizzled on top
few grinds of sea salt from the grinder on a fine setting

sometimes, I scissor some ancho chilies into oil, and use the chili oil instead of butter as the drizzle. A squeeze of lime or some lime zest if you don't want it soggy, but the fresh chili lime is my favorte. Dried ancho chili strips aren't very hot, and richly roasted in flavor when heated in oil, crispy and raisin like.
fine sea salt

>popcorn, salt and a bit of oil in the popcorn pot with the crank-stirrer i got 12 years ago
>medium heat
>constant stirring
>when the kernels lighten in colour and are about to start popping, a large chunk of butter and a lot of finely ground black pepper
>go until everything pops
perfectly seasoned and perfectly buttered popcorn every single time
i fuck around with making my own seasoning mixes now and then, i made a batch of chipotle-lime dust because nothing on market matched what i wanted, it was super fucking good on popcorn

>why do American movie theaters do this?
...is the better question to ask. No one uses this making popcorn at home where they can use fresh or cool butter. Only when you go somewhere like movie theaters, amusement parks, sports venues will you find it because it’s cheap and doesn’t require refrigeration.

Salt & butter
Jalapeño juice or Slap Yo Mama dry seasoning

A friend told me once he has a friend who had some kind of Greek seasoning she’s shake over popcorn, but he never knew the composition.

>No one uses this making popcorn at home

I do, because it's way easier and sometimes I want the specific taste of movie theater popcorn.

Load it into a food-safe spray bottle and it's way easier to evenly coat the popcorn than with melted butter.

Butter flavoured bullshit spray and powdered salt. Yes, I know it's not butter. Yes, I know it's artificial. But for the fuck of me, short of popping the popcorn in clarified butter (delicious, but impractical) I can't figure out how to put real butter on it without the popcorn turning soggy. Spray = dat crunch.

Yes. I pop it directly in its metal serving bowl. I just attach a campfire pothandle to the bowl and wrap the mouth with foil. After adding the kernels and oil, of course.
Microwave popcorn tastes weird, I always manage to burn some, and there are always more than a few kernels left unpopped but making it on the hob, I never burn it and every kernel is popped perfectly. "Stovetop"4lyfe.

Got an air popper recently since my microwave is a shitty 700watt. Then went down a rabbit whole and found this popcorn brand. Pretty good. The first one is purple popcorn. Also bought some flavocal without the yellow dyes to put on it, with butter. I also like to use butter + flavor good nacho seasoning + chipotle powder, and olive oil + flavor god pizza seasoning. A lot of the times I have it plain though, since the colored kernels are more flavorful than white or yellow.
