I want to know if it's good too, there's some room for interpretion here and it deviates a bit from a lot of chili recipes because it's got barbecue sauce, and usually chili dogs don't contain beans. I'm thinking you'd want a medium spicy pepper, like jalapeños, and it's from the 90s so the mushrooms are probably the ordinary button mushrooms, chopped kind of small. I would go with a vinegary barbecue sauce rather than a sweet one. The spice measurements seem a little low, I'd go with heaping teaspoons.

The very first two google image results show beans. Chili isn't really chili without beans anyways.

it sounds pretty decent, but the bbq sauce is really what throws it into territory I'm unsure of. mainly because of the sweetness of commercial bbq sauces, but the spices in BBQ sauce would probably be a good addition on their own, in addition to a chili with some sweetness sounds bad, but on a chili dog, I could see it being good, like how the sweetness of ketchup is good on a dog

also for general chili purposes, I wonder why they chose red kidney beans in particular rather than just some beans. maybe to avoid someone throwing baked beans in, but honestly does Sega really care what people do with sonic recipes?

>barbecue sauce
>no garlic
>chili powder, oregano, cumin
>beans

Not sure about these - you already have crushed tomatoes and worcester sauce - might as well do it right and use tomato paste and some more varied spices. This just seems like a chili that doesn't know whether it wants to be a chili con carne or a Cincinnati chili.

>cook hotdogs in the sauce
That... could be pretty good actually.

They're not more expensive than any other 100% beef hot dog. Beef dogs are just pricey, I know because my autistic wife loves them and refuses to eat regular wieners.

I did this recipe because i am a big sonic fan, it actually tasted good.
The commercial stuff which flavor is almost identical, is the hormel canned chilli.
i'm not american but at least to me tasted good but here in mexico a lot of people don't like barbecue sauce that much.

It was my first time eating a chilli dog too.
Awesome stuff, specially if you have cheddar, my only complain it could be that is a high calorie food, but is good once in a while.

If i have to put it a score:
Chilli on his own: 8.5 out of 10
Chilli dog: 9.5 out of 10 (at least to me)

This anon makes me curious, i didn't knew this isn't a standard chilli recipe, i know beans have a little controvesy in the dish but i've always tought barbecue sauce was something essential.

Could some anon illustrate me which is the classic way to make chilli?

Sure, there's 3 kinds of chili, no beans, beans, and competition. Competition chili is normally not allowed to have fresh ingredients, which means it's all spices and msg. Every chili competition publishes their winners recipe online so it's very easy to look up.

This is a very basic chili ingredient list
2 tablespoons olive oil
▢ 2 pounds ground beef, (you can also use ground turkey)
▢ Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
▢ 1 yellow onion, finely diced
▢ 1 green bell pepper, diced
▢ 4 cloves garlic, minced
▢ 2 tablespoons chili powder
▢ 2 teaspoons ground cumin
▢ 2 teaspoons dried oregano
▢ 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
▢ 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
