Do you think cherry pie is a tad overrated? Just about any fruit pie is better

Cherry pie is affected more strongly by poor or excellent execution. I tend to find, for example, apple, key lime, pumpkin, or rhubarb pies to usually be at least decent, even if more shoddily made. But if cherry or blueberry pie is made well, in season, with no skimping on filling, it really is incredible.

Strait rhubarb maybe, but if it’s mixed with basically any berry or other fruit it’s the best. Similar to gooseberry: a little too tart alone, but so good when mixed

Of all the fruit pies, certainly not. It's the best outside of apple. Key lime comes close, but it's more of a custard than fruit pie, so it's sketchy in rankings. Then you get into nut and custard pies, which I think pecan pie btfo of everything else, most especially with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream, but then a la mode is a little different, really, and you're getting into autism beyond the intricacies of pie crust and how filling affects the combined with most used vs best recipes compounded with serving methods. Pie is fucking complicated. I don't care how simplistic you are, you know a good plate of pie and cream when it's placed in front of you. You likely have no fucking clue what went into it, though.
