I need to get more green vegetables according to my doctor, how do I easily get them into my diet without having to spend extra time at dinner cooking then separately or whatever?

>>17314538
I was thinking of steaming them or something, roasting in the oven seems like too much work to use another pan and then turn the oven on just for vegetables, I usually have a protein and carb source which cook together or I cook the protein and the carb source is something like microwave rice or a baked sweet potato.

I don't wanna fuck around with multiple pans and foil etc

Buy pic related or whatever you like, and boil the same amount as your starchy food while you're cooking other dishes. It's not the best but much better than garbage canned vegetables.

You could use a search engine to look up microwavable vegetables. They cook right in the bag. Does any millennial here have any common sense?

>Microwavable vegetables
All vegetables are microwavable. That prepackaged shit is a scam, marketing convenience to you at a higher price. Your reward is an extra seasoning of microplastics on your veggies. Get regular frozen vegetables and just microwave them in a covered bowl or glass container.

Coleslaw. Make it with Brussels sprouts instead of cabbage. Make a big batch at the start of the week, keep it in the fridge. Add a few tablespoons to the side of your dinner plate each night.

70g of raw Brussels sprouts has 107.1µg of vitamin K and 80.5mg of vitamin C.

Add fresh parsley to the coleslaw. More vitamins. Also try making it with organic natural yoghurt instead of mayo. Add fresh lemon juice, sea salt. Every tablespoon will be a health boost

>soup

A great idea.

Buy a big bag of frozen broccoli. Boil it in a pan of chicken stock, add garlic, herbs. Then blend it up. Keep it in the fridge. When you have your dinner pour some of the broccoli soup into a mug and microwave it for couple of minutes. Add some pieces of Stilton cheese, that's how we do it in England. You can drink your green vegetables now.

This. You can either just do a plain vegetable stew, or chopped leafy greens seem to taste good when added to most stews. Recently made a pot of beans that I added turnip greens to and for some reason it just tasted really good together.

If you're a lazy fuck you can put raw broccoli florets or green beans in a cereal bowl with just a heavy sprinkling off the fingers of water, covered with foodservice film, in the microwave for one and a half to two minutes and get tendercrisp. Obviously I mean it's steaming just over 1 serving, don't try to pull this shit with a pound.

>> No.17318104

>>17318069
>tendercrisp
Not OP but I don't really like tendercrisp vegetables. I like vegetables both raw and cooked until soft but tendercrisp feels like it has the worst qualities of both. It's also easier to eat a large amount of vegetables if they're cooked until soft. Like I could easily eat a pound of broccoli that's steamed until soft with just a little lemon or vinegar on it.

Yeah I know that's the standard and a lot of people seem to prefer it, just wanted to throw that out there especially if OP is trying to eat more vegetables that it might be better to cook them until softer.

under what basis would a doctor recommend this?

green vegetables are high in oxylates, goitrogens, indigestible fiber, and are generally lacking in bioavailable nutrients.

Why would a doctor recommend you eat this?

Does nobody else find this insane? Why don't we just listen to our bodies senses. When somebody puts a plate of brocolli in front of me, I have zero desire to eat it. It's only when cooked, salted, roasted in oil, served aside meat or what have you, and you can use the florets to mop up buttery sauce that it even becomes something to consider eating.

Why don't we just listen to our bodies? Fruits, berries, nuts, meat, eggs, milk, honey, a small amount of vegetables. That's what I want and that's what my body desires. If some doctor told me to eat plates of brocolli I'd seriously consider rejecting his advice.

Because as a retard caveman, you needed to hunt to eat anything or else you'd just die. Living like this for thousands of years, our bodies evolved to find calorie-rich foods tasty because these foods were high in fats, sugars and carbs and therefore provided a better chance of survival.

Nowadays, we can literally just go the store and purchase fatty foods for no trouble at all, but we still have our innate tastes that developed in the pursuit of these things. If you just eat "what your body desires" all the time, you become a fatass because you're intaking loads of dense calories without having to hunt to actually work it off.

Brassicas give me the worst gas on the planet. Just huge bassy farts every thirty seconds or so to the point of stomach pain. I think I'm allergic.

>> No.17318551

Try regularly eating a small amount and gradually consuming more over time. Those problems are usually from a sudden change in gut flora or your gut flora not being able to handle that yet and you're overloading on it. When I first started eating more beans I had the same problem and the farts smelled so bad but it went away pretty quickly and I just get a rare fart that doesn't really seem to smell now.

The human body craves things that were historically not available in large amounts but necessary to survival. Now, these things are artificially manufactured in practically inexhaustible quantities and enriched to trigger further addictive reactions. In the last two centuries, our environment has been transformed at a speed with an extraordinarily higher order of magnitude than than of natural evolution. "What your body wants" is now so out of sync with your environment that it is actually now no longer just nutritionally advantageous, but fully necessary to ignore your basic instincts in order to maintain a healthy body.
