How do I make wine?

>> No.17310074

Use a chaptalization calculator to determine how much sugar you need to add to produce the desired ABV.

Weigh and add sugar.
Add yeast baker's yeast will work, but is shitty all around. Get brewers yeast like EC1118.
Put balloon or airlock on topm
Wait until it stops bubbling.
Drink.

Wouldn't most store-bought juice like that have preservatives in it that would prevent the yeast from doing anything? I've only ever made hard cider but I remember having to find a brand of cider without whatever preservatives

More than likely yes, It won't work unless OP adds an insane amount of sugar and yeast which is going to taste disgusting more likely not work. The real pro move is to find frozen juice concentrate in the frozen section. They tend to not have preservatives since it's frozen, you'll need to add water since it's concentrate, but it's what I used when I used to make bum wine

I don't know what the big deal is. Poor people go to these to pay taxes on literally everything you buy there and they don't seem to be too bothered. They don't even notice. Just pay your taxes bro.

Get juice that only has ascorbic acid (vitamin c) and / or citric acid as preservatives. Those don't kill yeast.
Honestly it is cheaper and way faster to get a big jug of rotgut wine. I have done the whole buying jugs and bubblers and sanitizing chemicals and the shit still ends up skunked sometimes and tastes like vinegar. When it is successful, it still doesn't taste as good as cheapass store wine.
Now if you are underage, I hear the kids wash out a 5 gallon water dispenser, fill mostly with apple juice and a 5+ lb sack of sugar dissolved, add yeast (like the 1118 mentioned earlier if you want it to taste better), rubber band a napkin at the top for gas to escape, wait a couple weeks and drink your prison hootch.

cranberry wine is probably not going to be very good
cranberries have very little natural sugar to them and may not ferment very well

if he checks the back and it doesn't have an *ate ingredients it should be fine.
Pasteurized just means there's no wild yeast in it so it will be easier to control
>>17310064
use this to figure out how much you can get out of it. might just need a balloon and a half a packet of yeast to get something out of it

That's why I've been brewing for 20 years. Usually 6 gallons a month with two, three gallon brews always going. Straight to 3 gallon kegs. Always filling growlers for friends and family.
Been doing my own kombucha for 10 years too. Fuck the government, fuck taxes and make excellent beer for less than a dollar a pint.
