Why does Baja blast taste better from the fountain than from a bottle

I guess cause it's "fresher" from a fountain. I used to work in a restaurant and occasionally had to change the soda syrup container in the back and I got to see how it all works, and when the syrup runs out, the fountain would just dispense cold carbonated water instead
