Steel is 9% abv compared to OE's 6%, it has nothing to do with the taste, it's just a way better value. I make steel reserve bloody mary's aka michelada or I make orange juice screw drivers. It's malt liquor, it should be used as a mixer, and you should buy the one with the highest %abv.

This and Olde English are the staple beverages for Haight St. alcoholics in SF. In my homeless days we'd sit by the liquor store day and night spanging for these and having the time of our lives. Our motto was we don't need food, just buy us malt liquor. Some of the best times of my life. A real lesson on how little is needed to live and enjoy yourself.

I've done both of those, was even invited to the McD's shantytown but that was too trashy even for me. Now I'm just a comfy vanlifer. Kind of sad though because I'm less inclined to socialize and miss out on a lot of the fun. Anyways Haight Ashbury loses its soul more and more each year and I can hardly bring myself there anymore because of my hatred for the hypebeast stores taking over the culture. I'm thinking about going down there later this week to start a concert on the street until a brawl starts with the cops. Should be interesting.

The best deal is generally Steel vs St. Ide's, unless you have some local high gravs. Similar ABV, so it's really about local cost. If you're a true alkie don't sleep on the box-wines, though.

Cheap ass Franzia/Franzia clones are pretty close, if not better in alcohol/$, while generally being more palatable than the bottom tier liquor/40's. If you're going to be a pussy and use the 40 as a mixer, just buy bottom tier, plastic bottle liquor.
