Biscuits and Gravy. It was developed by the US Army forces occupying the southern states during Reconstruction as a passive measure to ensure the south does not rise again. When eaten for breakfast, the would-be secessionist is too tired to accomplish anything well into the afternoon, and even then they only have enough energy to sit on their porch and chew sunflower seeds.

It's really easy to make at home, anon.

The hardest part to get in (assuming here) Europe is gonna be American style country sausage. You can probably get away with a plain fresh pork sausage.
Here's an example of American sausage: https://itsgooo-od.com/product/original-country-sausage-medium/

Easy way to do this is start with frozen biscuits (again you may not be able to find this in Europe, if you can't then it's basically just a plain British Scone, with no sweeteners)

Make some patties with the pork sausage ~7cm across and 1cm thick. Cook the sausage and reserve the grease from cooking (a lot of people do this with bacon as well, like sausage + bacon), once you have the meats cooked, take your grease and make a roux with flour. A lot of people in the Dixie swear by White Lily flour but really any flour will do for something like gravy. Once your roux is cooked, add in milk until you reach the desired consistency. It should be thick, but still able to flow. At this point you have two options: some people break up the sausage into the gravy as pictured above in the thread, others have the sausage (and bacon) on the side. Really up to you on that. Once you've added your sausage into your gravy (or plated it off to the side), pour your gravy on top of your biscuits and enjoy.

Pic is some I made several months back when I was really craving it bad.

>> No.17275486

>>17275245
it's a simple dish, and so the quality of the ingredients makes a big difference. It can be very good though
>>17275441
is pretty much right, but I would definitely make your own biscuits, because they are also not terribly difficult and hard to find pre-made outside of the US. The only thing I would add to the gravy recipe is you will most likely want a good deal of black pepper, and possibly some cayenne (or use a spicy sausage) if you're into that.
Also, a vinegar-based hot sauce like tabasco at the end is nice with the rich gravy

>> No.17275488

>>17275441
oh ans salt and pepper the gravy to taste, your sausage will probably be relatively salty to begin with, so it may not need much salt, but you definitely have to add ground black pepper.

You probably used too much flour. Common mistake.
The recipe is really quite simple:
1. Brown up a tube of pic related (or Jimmy Dean's).
2. A bit at a time, stir in 1/3 of a cup of flour until it's all been absorbed.
3. Add 3 cups of milk. Bring almost to a boil then stir and simmer until it's the right consistency.
Add kosher salt and fresh pepper at the end, and that's that!

Geez dude settle down. If your mom had a talent for just melting candy bars, that's great! What was she doing after you suckled your melted kisses. I think we all know.

How else would you eat them? Except the floor part. Spit them into a bowl or something if you're inside.

The chocolate gravy? Yes. It's a holiday treat on biscuits in some areas.

Typical euro does not understand our cuisine. With homemade biscuits and delectable sausage gravy it's amazing. American biscuits and sawmill gravy are on a whole nother level then what you're used to in your country because you're poor.

The biscuits look a bit weak, but the color on that gravy is fucking nice.

Mhm let me tell you city slickers how to make some delicious homemade Biscuits and Gravy.
Get ya some Tennessee Pride EXTRA sage sausage, brown it up good in yer skillet, then add some butter, because they don't really have enough grease in the sausage now, then pour a bit of flour in, cook it till it stops smelling floury and then pour in your milk.
Add some salt and 3-4 times as much pepper as you think you need, and cook it down to a bit runnier then your preferred consistency. It will thicken up off the heat. Simple, beautiful and delicious. God Bless.
