I know this feel. I bought a 20 pack of corn tortillas. Family decided to put all the tortillas wheat, corn, and flour into U shapes to better fit in between all the tupperware I want to throw out because it's never used and just takes up space. As you can imagine the corn ones cracked in almost perfect halves making them absolutely useless except to fry as cheap chips that would cost a couple bucks to get way more of them in a bag with no effort. I wasn't pleased and my stupid family aside I don't have to deal with this with any other kind of tortilla.

My family decided to put all the tortillas: wheat, corn, and flour, into U shapes to better fit in the pantry between all the tupperware I want to throw out because it's never used and just takes up space. We don't use the tortillas to separate the tupperware ala the Dewey decimal system. There's just a full pantry and a bunch of plastic bullshit taking up space in there. I'm unfortunately agentless in this house even though I'm the only one that cooks.

This has been my experience. When I had roommates one guy always insisted we have white corn tortillas whenever we made Mexican. It had to be white corn though, because it's totally not as shitty as normal corn tortillas. He was the only one to ever touch that shit, and even then half of the stuff on his plate still used flour tortillas. The worst part was whenever someone had some other company over he would, without fail, try to get others into it by saying something like, "just try them, they're so much better". I had to throw so many packages of uneaten corn tortillas out, but he still insists to this day they are way better.

Corn is the most important domesticated crop in Mexico. It has cultural significance.

For Mexicans, maize is not a crop but a deep cultural symbol intrinsic to daily life. Corn was domesticated from a grass called teocintle by the peoples of Meso-America approximately 10,000 years ago.
