Alaskanon here , I love sardines and salmon . Can someone familiar with Alaskan fish remind me why we’re always going on about how much better wild salmon is than farmed ? It would be nice if I knew as I’ve repeated it so many times .

Wild caught salmon has a much more rich red color from their diet. Fish farms have to add nutrients to their fish feed to replicate the color, but they still end up more of a pale orange. Wild salmon is also leaner with more omega-3 fatty acids, whereas farmed fish are fattier with more omega-6 proportionally.
Pic related is an example of the color of fresh Sockeye that was just pulled out of the water less than 24 hours prior to being cooked with copious amounts of parsley and garlic.
