It's about water availability. The bun doesn't mold because it has low moisture content to begin with and preservatives/antioxidants. So it will dry out before it has time to go moldy. Same with the rest of the fried, salty stuff.

Mesophilic molds that cause spoilage need water. If the food dries out before they are able to successfully colonize then the food won't go moldy. This is the basis of food preservation.

This is the silly mistake I keep seeing people make. McDs Integrated marketing isn't targeting 4chan. McDs allocates a budget to integrated marketing from its larger marketing budget. The individual department looks for third party bids that include a massive number of sites and they employ very underpaid workers. The primary reason honey doesn't go moldy is because it is made out of more than 80% sugar. This supersaturated sugar solution has very little available water therefore mold and bacteria cannot grow on it. On top of this there are antimicrobial compounds in it.
