Airport food has come a really long way, and I rarely see a limited selection of food when I travel in the US. There will local chefs famous within that city doing airport locations highlighting the best regional food in that city. Did you buy it at 2am from a kiosk of packaged prepared choices in a newstand? Were you restricted by immigration to a connection in an international terminal only?

It’s a tad annoying because it can vary by airport. You pretty much have to ask what the policy is for each sky lounge. Honestly, I’ve never had a problem. They purposefully make it so you just can’t call the desk and ask. You realize there’s no reason to be embarrassed, they see hundreds of people a day from across the world. They’ll forget you in like 5 seconds. Just shrug your shoulder and walk away.

Although I’m pretty certain centurion is only for layovers.

nta. The cards the typically give access to lounges come w/ hefty (still increasing) annual fees that are paid upfront and each subsequent year they are held ($550, $695, $395).
You might find it worthwhile if you travel more than a few times each month, as the costs of food adds up quick. On the other hand, I've heard that most are garbage at the moment and are often still filled up.

Can see that, but honestly prefer keeping things simple. All I have is a "normal" credit union debit card, a debit card with ATM fee refunds which is compatible with every international CC processor I've thrown at it, and a 3% universal cashback credit card with no catch.
Stuff like airline and other travel rewards would likely just expire.

Their food court is way too small. I had to bring my Qdoba burrito to a bar at the end of the airport near my terminal. As you know Qdoba burritos quickly devolve into a pile of slop that I'm eating with my hands.

The waiter, a big black guy, comes up to me asking what the hell I'm doing. I just ask for a soda (Pepsi, which I feel is sacrilege in Atlanta). The bartender, a pretty blonde woman, doesn't make me pay for the Pepsi, as she probably assumed I was retarded.

one time when I was in some huge international airport (forget where but the stores/restaurants were all higher quality so it wasn't some garbage-tier hellhole) I had a long layover and just went across the entire place getting meals at wherever looked good every 20-30 minutes. walked, ate, took a short rest, then moved on for more. was kind of like a long, drawn out airport buffet with lots of walking between stations. I had thai, sushi, malaysian, chinese, and I forget what else. hung out in the bathroom stall for awhile midway through to take a breather. was an absolute kino fucking feast and the company I was with paid for everything.

I fly a few times a year and I always bring a ziploc of Cheerios, a metal spoon, and a disposable bowl. After getting past TSA I buy milk for like $5 and then pour the bowl on the plane. If you're ever flying out of or through the SF area try to get your flight through the Oakland Airport. SFO sucks ass and Oakland has this weird buffet lounge that for $30 you get unlimited food and booze made to order. There's rarely more than 5 other people in there too so you don't have to sit near all the trash people while you wait.

It depends on the airline. I fly Alaska a lot since I live in Alaska (and they are really the only airline out all year round) and their lounges normally require that you have a ticket and pay $50 or $25 if you have the Alaska Credit card or you get in free if you have a first class ticket. Being upgraded does not get you free entry.

It will depend on the airline but I assume its similar for others. A lot of other airlines also partner with other airlines and that lets you into their lounges as well.

I rarely go anywhere else to eat at an airport anymore since food and drink will quickly exceed $25 and I like the much calmer atmosphere of the lounge.
