Online entertainment is as much about the person as it is about the subject matter. Issue is I really don't like the person. I find his cadence exhausting, the subject matters mostly boring and his fanbase infuriating.

He's the embodiment of slave morality. You can tell that behind his cringey little "you do you!" shit and starting his plebbit comments with "friend, ...", there's real contempt hiding. He speaks this way because he's terrified of confrontation and has no idea how to handle disagreement. Because that's the kind of language in which Adam would himself codify his criticism. He interprets the slightest of gibes as full-frontal attacks because that's the way he'd make a criticism. Simple, honest and straightforward language is not for him; he lacks the courage to be direct.

As other anons have said, all of this has probably been reinforced/cemented by his having been a professor, where he's been able to go mostly unchallenged in his little fiefdom for years. Now he's suddenly exposed to the internet, where everyone is way harsher, and more importantly, don't need to please him to pass a class. I guess he's struggling to adapt a bit.

it's been a while, but I remember it being the most disliked video I had seen of his. Basically while he normally seems to at least qualify questionable scientific statements, that video was clearly mainly an ad that tried to justify the existence of the product. His usual approach was gone and it was painfully obvious that the only reason he did that was the paycheck attached to the whole thing. It felt like that video wouldn't exist without the sponsor. The interesting thing was it was so obvious that even his own community turned on him. A week earlier or so he had a post explaining that he was about to have some videos that had sponsors in them to pay some bills, that it wouldnt affect quality and would only be for a bit. His fans were suppotive and telling him how great he was, the usual youtube stuff. Despite that and despite the overwhelming support of his community almost everyone seemed to turn against him in those comments. And that's interesting to see because parasocial fans tend to excuse a lot of shit. Video also had the usual "This statement was not evaluated by the FDA" and similar disclaimers in it, making it much funnier.

Basically just an unscientific advertisement, but so transparent even his own fans were disgusted by it.

Myself, I just can't stand to look at his unkempt appearance, makes him seem manic. There's a unshaven 2-3 days appearance, with greasy hair in the face and unclean skin appearance that just makes me ugh and turn him off. I can't watch him only for these reasons.
