They've declined a lot. Ever since Marie Calendar stopped putting the gravy in a separate packet it's gone to complete shit, they used to actually be really good for a frozen dinner.

Back in the days where TV dinner ovens were the norm, they'd be more like a regular meal, much closer to reheating the leftovers of a mediocre family meal. But they were also more expensive, took longer, and were generally more of a hassle.

As far as microwave dinners go, I think most people just get sick of them over time.
