Unless you're a poorfag and your time is literally worthless, why would you *ever* cook at home?

You're always going to get a better tasting meal from a restaurant
You'll never have to spend hours inefficiently cleaning up every dish in your kitchen and all of the countertops and appliances

You know why profit margins are so thin for restaurants? Because they're all in a race to the bottom and they can't price their food to rip you off or they'll go out of business. They're already barely pricing food above cost. They use loopholes to pay staff under minimum wage (you're expected to subsidize this through tipping, skip the tip and save). They already have way more efficient systems in place to prep, cook and clean than you'll ever have doing the same for one meal at a time.

It's a no-brainer: If you're employed, you'll *save* money by getting takeout and you'll enjoy the convenience and pleasure of getting good food to boot. Don't fall for the home cooking meme that is literally wasting your life away by inefficiently mimicking restaurant quality at best, but most likely wasting your life away to eat bland, shitty food that you're too tired to make properly anyway.

cooking at home is cheaper and healthier and depending on your restaurant options nearby it also tastes better to cook at home. Most people do not have the disposable income to eat out every single day and if they do their health is probably not the best.

I love my meat pittsburghed and most restaurants have no idea what I mean when I ask for my steak done that way and if they do half the time they don't have the tools to do it. Even fancy places like Eddie V's and Ruth's Chris are a crapshot over whether they can do it right or not

Not likely, but if it's healthy then it's bland. You can get healthy salad from a restaurant with a tasty salad dressing, good luck efficiently making tasty salad dressing at home. You'll spend hours wasting dishes/cleaning up and the batch will go bad within days.

There are a few things to consider in this. It is cheaper to cook at home. Assuming you don't need to buy a stove, a kitchen, pots, pans, other tools and equipment like knives, chopping boards, strainers etc. Assuming you don't need to buy plates, knives, forks, cups, spoons. Assuming you don't need to wash it all up and buy all the shit you need to wash it all up. I mean ... once you've a regular kitchen stocked with regular things and you figure out how to shop and how to formulate some structured meal plans it is cheaper to cook at home. But if you break down the cost of all the shit in a typical kitchen and depreciate it on a per meal basis and if you travel to get groceries on a whim for one meal at a time then yeah ... it can often work out cheaper to eat low budget take out. The thing is, most people don't have to buy and equip a whole kitchen on day one. They might start cooking and purchase a small amount of equipment and then add to it over time as their needs grow. Done this way, like a $50 per year spend to replace and add to kitchen equipment it just is part of the cost of living.

I'd be wary of anybody who wants us to order in every day because the next 'improvement' will be like "millennials are choosing to live in apartments without kitchens' and they'll be no cheaper to buy and rent, but they'll be even smaller and now mohammad lives in a 1 bed studio that used to be your kitchen.

Restaurants and convenience have been around for a very long time, it isn't some schizo fever dream of a journalist trying to manipulate you into not owning kitchen appliances.

The fact of the matter is, the restaurant/service industry is in a bubble. There's never been a better and cheaper time to have people feed you. It's so good that it outweighs cooking at home in a majority of the time (unless you're a poorfag, duh). You faggots are really going to kick yourselves when the bubble bursts and we go back to a time when going out to eat was a luxury that people could only afford once every few months.

But hey, at least you're skilled at cooking that bland poorfag food, you're gonna need it.

I don't know where you got this assumption but markup is usually 10-15x ingredient cost at a restaurant unless they're moving serious quantity (McDonalds is 2-5x depending on the items).
>If you're employed, you'll *save* money by getting takeout
Le epic irony or something? Cooking at home is cheaper, period. Maybe not per calorie if you could junk food, but it's definitely cheaper by far per satiety every time. I think you don't realize that spending 25 bucks per day eating out (conservative estimate) is burning a hole in your pocket.

Cooking at home is obviously better if you don't eat trash 24/7.

Making chicken, potatoes, rice, beans, veggies, etc. is incredibly easy and should be done at home for everyday meals.

However, when I want to eat something nice/fatty/fried, which is usually once or twice a week, i'll go out and buy takeout rather than cook it myself. Making fancy meals at home is a massive chore and the last thing I want to do on my days off is spend hours in the kitchen cooking.

So you are halfway correct, OP. Home cooked meals for workdays. Take out on days off.
