I'm currently living in a small dorm (military) with just a counter, microwave and sink for cooking. I was thinking since I have been spending so much on fast food (and because chow hall food isn't exactly the healthiest) that I could buy a small pan, a strainer, and a hot plate to cook meals on. I'm thinking eggs and rice for the most part. Would that open up a lot of options for me? Would it allow me to cook quick meals and for cheap? Is there perhaps a better way for someone in my situation? Didn't want to waste an entire thread dedicated to this question (sorry regardless)

I've lived in cheap ass motels for years now, with the same stuff, bathroom size sink, microwave, mini fridge.
I've tried a few things with emphasis on being clean and small.
A small crockpot and med sized george foreman grill are what did me best. Could cook eggs on the foreman(Balanced it with something under and balance lid with something else) Of course stove top would be much better, can grill meat etc. I preferred it over microwave for many frozen foods since they end up crispy. Then crockpot can cook up some good sloppa like beans, soups, etc.
Thought bout buying a hot plate but I'm glad I didn't after learning to use a damn george foreman like a wiz.
