You don't want to "diet" you want to focus on cleaning up your diet. This doesn't mean cutting everything or anything out. It means increasing the nutrients you get per calorie. Without an exercise routine on top of it you are wasting your time.

Remove refined sugars and carbs, increase whole protein, increase vegetables/fruits. Drink a lot of water every day. Walk, run, lift.

Nothing. Eat literally nothing for a week. If you're not capable of a weeklong fast, try meth. If you are a puritan maybe try Adderall, pseudoephedrine, or modafinil. They all cut the appetite. But by far the safest and most-legal approach is simply fasting for a week.
After the fast you can gradually reintroduce calories. If you've fasted for less than a week don't worry about shocking your body with solid food, but don't overdo it either. Eat small portions of nutritionally dense foods several times spaced out through the day, aiming for 1/2 your bmr. Keep this up until your weight loss goal is achieved, then gradually increase caloric consumption to meet your new bmr.

I did counting calories, and doing about 1600 a day for awhile. Pretty quickly my stomach seemed to shrink and I got less hungry and staying within 2000 calories became easy.
The biggest thing was after awhile I actually developed a pretty reasonable sense of how many calories were in things and that helped a lot.
Lost 100 pounds. Was great.
It's really not that bad OP. You just commit and then you get used to it. Once you hit your goal weight it's pretty easy to eat reasonably most days and have random splurge days without really stressing out.

I lost 25kg last year. You know how I did it? I found out my TDEE and I ate significantly below it for about 6 months. The weight melted away. I followed no diet or meme eating regimes. I cut out low volume, high calorie foods, such as those filled with sugar, and ate smaller portions.

Now I eat close to my TDEE to maintain, and I am. There's no secret or mystery. Eat less than your body burns to lose; eat approximately the same to maintain; eat more than you burn and you'll gain.

I now eat cherry tomatoes, carrots or cucumbers instead of chips and chocolate etc.

I can confirm this.
A year ago I had a suspicion I had a gluten allergy.
Went to the doctor and went to get my bloodwork done.
From the time I suspected it, and the time I was told by my doctor I had a sensitivity(not allergy), I cut out gluten(not carbs) completely.
Just cutting out carbs from glutenous products was enough to get me to lose weight. I still ate rice and other carby food.
