There is nothing special about "authentic Italian" pizza.

The pizza in the top half of the picture is authentic Italian pizza. It is boring and doesn't have correct sauce/cheese/topping ratios. The crust is dull looking and the sauce probably too sweet.

Now, the pizza in the bottom pic is American pizza. It fixes many of the issues plaguing authentic Italian pizza, which is why American pizza is recognized globally as the leading pizza.
