Whatever I eat has at the very best a vague predominant taste of either salty, sweet, bitter or sour. Everything else is just texture, be it veg, meat, crackers, cheese or whatever. I dont even feel spiciness anymore. As such it is very difficult to actually eat anything for more than a few bites, obviously not healthy.
How to remedy? Protein cocktails and just wait it out?

Why do the protected need to be protected from the unprotected by forcing the unprotected to use the protection that did NOT protect the protected in the first place?

You might discover a food thats interesting with your current condition, mayby sushi? If nothing works just broth and protein shakes to get the nutrition.

because if your passengers in your car don't wear a seatbelt and you get in a wreck, they become missiles and can crack your skull open with their skull.

So what's the issue? The point of eating is for sustenance. Taste is irrelevant so long as it's edible.

Yo OP I had this. I couldn't taste or smell shit and was limited to being able to somewhat and only basically detect sweet, sour, salty, bitter. I grow peppers and usually blend a few super hots with lime juice and salt as a fresh condiment to liven up rice or eggs or something which I keep in the fridge in a jar so I was pouring that on everything as it was salty and sour. What I didn't quite work out was that while I couldn't taste it going in my butt hole definitely experienced it going out so I ended up miserably shitting with cramps and a burning asshole after the equivalent of dozen scorpion peppers one day. I was just depressed and put up with it. I didn't want to eat anyway, but I ate mainly salty snacks, shit like peanuts, dry roasted were ok, those ones in crispy shells with msg and honey or spices on, salt and vinegar chips and maize snacks. Luckily it started to lessen after 4 days and while still intermittent on day 6 was often quite normal. Weirdly I could sort of detect a sulphurous quality in brassicas that was reminiscent of taste. I remember thinking if it stayed the same I'd be able to eat a lot of those.

have you ever eaten things without taste? It pretty much makes most things that aren't hyper bland BRAT foods inedible.

As for you OP, BRAT diet. I've been 8 months since I got covid (with vaccine, lot of good that did) and I still don't have full sense of smell back. Not as bad as loss of taste but it made pretty much all non-water beverages undrinkable. Trying to have soda or liquor made me violently vomit from disgust.

Because the protection isn't 100% so the unprotected are still putting the protected at least. Also, some people cannot get protected for medical reasons.
Also the unprotected are giving the threat an opportunity to become more dangerous by letting percolate through them.

Potatoes need to be cooked. Electricity is expensive.
OP, do a raw carrot diet. Carrots are usually as cheap as potatoes and can be eaten raw no problem.

Don't go outside of you don't want to risk catching it. Which you probably wouldn't anyway unless you have a preexisting condition. Just like you shouldn't get in the vehicle with someone who doesn't wear a seat belt. It's not rocket science. To avoid the shit don't put your own hands in the toilet.

There is nothing to do except wait for your olfactory neurons to recover. You can train them by smelling strong odors (garlic, mustard, coffee, citrus fruits). But really not much you can do.
