french bread has a better crust on it and is closer to real baguette or french bread than subway

deli meats feel like they are from the block like boars head not like subways which taste like oscar meyer tray meats. they only have provolone compared to subways 6 cheeses but its better provolone.

vegetables and sauces are more limited at jimmy johns so purists will like JJs and people who like salad will like subway.

JJs is generally more expensive but has store personnel delivery where most subways don't

That's about the size of it

Good point, they escaped my attention because this horribly framed picture cropped off where the bulk of them are resting.

Of course a generic pickle consisting of flaccid cucumber poached in industrial vinegar and flavored with natural & artificial flavors and dyed with yellow 5&6 is going to really add that zing that is missing from this otherwise horrendously bland sandwich.

I used to work at 2 jimmy johns locations owned by an indian dude like 6 years ago. the work was fine; makin sandwiches, working register, doing dishes, cleaning lobby, cutting meats/cheese, making bread, it was basic and easy. the management wasn't great, but most of my coworkers were pretty cool. the main location I worked at was in a pretty popular area downtown near a few bars, and I worked the closing night shift on the weekdays which was 4-12, with the one manager who was cool, and we were usually pretty slow until maybe 10-11, so until then we'd just get everything done that we needed to and then we'd take breaks going into the back alley to smoke weed and look at shit on our phones. we used to buy this air freshener shit from the mart across the street called blunteffects which was like super concentrated and we'd spray ourselves with it before going back in so we'd be smelling like a shitty car wash or something, acting like nobody was any the wiser. I quit after like a year but it was fun while it lasted. also at our store you got a discount on food or a free sub if you worked 10 hours or more, but none of the shifts were 10 hours, but when I worked night shift nobody cared so we would always make ourselves food before leaving, and I'd be making the fattest subs with like 3-4 portions of meat and extra cheese. also we would save the bread 'guts' after making sandwiches, then douse it with the oil/vinegar mix and italian seasoning, then roll it up with like 3 or 4 strips of bacon, and then eat it, shit was so cash, it's the only thing I miss from that job.

>>16962468
it sucks and has less meat than the #10 while costing more. it gets 1 1/2 portions while the 10 gets 2 full portions. it's easy to make but really hard to build the correct flavor profile. you get too little bleu cheese crumbles bc the shit sticks to the scoop, too little or too much bleu cheese dressing bc the portion is a tbsp but they give us a flat spatula to portion it with, not enough meat bc whoever's sliced that portion put a bunch of think chunks down on the paper instead of two clean thick slices, and the horseradish dressing bottle gets emptied too quickly so chances are you're going to get gipped on that too bc the sammich maker's bottle ran out and they dgaf to get another for your sammich. avg wagie won't give a shit if they're being fair on portioning. just don't fall for this LTO.

>>16963167
yes there are supply shortages everywhere and one of them was pork. you're not allowed to substitute meats at JJ's, you're supposed to just not sell that item. it's literally in the ops manual not to mess with the recipes. from what you said here, that literally would have been a better solution for you. that's not the only issue here, they didn't gut your bread, when the 7 is supposed to be gutted. unless you asked for extra hot peppers, it's only supposed to have four peppers, and i see a fisftul foisted into that center bite. also, since you've taken this picture they've removed the second portion of cheese by default so it only gets one now.

>>16964027
that is actually how a submarine sandwich is made. in the past the toppings used to go on the top of the meat but they switched it to the bottom for 1) speed and 2) being on the top meant all the shit would fall out when you folded it so this change actually saves money

benchmark perf temps of walk-in cooler are 34-38. it only reaches 41 when there's a lot of activity. the cold tables have the same temps. it's well above frost point so it's literally impossible for product to freeze in these environments.

the walk-in freezer is 0-4F, which is not the same thing and no produce is allowed to be stored in the freezer. so idk wtf ur talking about with frozen tomatoes. you can actually store tomatoes ambient and they hold. it's actually a safe and standard practice to leave tomatoes ambient if they're received underripe to allow them to ripen more. i might add that onions are stored ambient-only as well as to preserve freshness. they're only refrigerated once cut. onions cucumbers and sliced pickles are thrown away at the end of every night.

>> No.16965670

>you can actually store tomatoes ambient and they hold.
i know, all sandwich places do this. i'm talking about when they take out an entire tray of cut tomatoes that get bretty fucking firm at 40f bro
its not pleasant to bite into, that's all im saying
my jimmy johns experience was bordering on ice-cold.
also walk in freezer as in the one we have at MY shit work. dough and meats are in the back of the walk-in, veggies and cheeses? upfront at a slightly higher temp, with an easy sliding window to grab the trays out.
we have to let said vegetables sit out for atleast 30 before serving. all vegetables are precut cause we're a big-ass chain.

>> No.16965708

>>16965686
it's not corporate's job to fix appliances, that's locally contracted. however if corporate member makes a visit it's their job to point those things out if it's being missed.
they restructured corporate after the Inspire Brands buyout so they don't make monthly visits anymore, they're semi-annual, so if the crew is shit issues can go unnoticed for a much longer time now.

that does tend to happen but usually only with extra mayo or double meat. the 7 gets ez mayo. but as i pointed out already, in that image they didn't gut the bread like they're supposed to. rookie error. he said they didn't have capicola so they subbed it with salami. the salami & capicola portions are an equal weight at 30-33 grams, but salami is 6 slices where capicola is 3, so visually this looks like a lot more meat but it's equal to the gram amount you should get. usually the #7 looks more like picrel (minus the second portion of cheese now)

>same amout of time
you're talking to a grizzled veteran wagie here, you're wrong, the change made it faster. i don't have to explain the nuances of old/new style because the cost of goods is the major reason for the change since stores are about making money. our brand also happens to be about making shit really fast so the change was for the better.
