I understand the appeal, especially after food or alcohol. But a pack a day? That's a bit much don't ya think?

I agree. I haven't had one in years, but I never understood how someone could do that all day. That's got to suck.

I rarely smoke, but when I do its usually on a weekend I choose to isolate and get drunk on. I'll go through a full back in two days, but by day 2 its more of a "I need to finish this because I feel disgusted with myself" and less of a "wow this is a nice buzz."

>Decide to stop smoking yesterday
>throw half a pack of wet cigarettes in the trash after filling the pack with water under the kitchen sink
>wake up today
>pick drenched cigarettes out of the trash and them on a pan at low heat, waiting for them to dry
I may have a nicotine problem.

Don't start.

Being able to smoke a pack a day or more was dependent on being able to smoke at work, smoke inside your home, smoke in your car etc. People who can put down huge amount of smokes are self employed or shiftless NEETs

I really wish I could just go back to only smoking when drunk. I'm all out of sorts these days. It's either periods with half a pack a day or periods with none

Quit smoking twice.

Best decisions I ever made.

Better teeth, better skin, I taste better. I don't stink and I have a better sense of scent.

I'm less impatient and women like me more.

All you have to do is smoke one cigarette less every day. Good luck.

>> No.16919160

>>16918967
Agreed. I smoked every day for a few years:

1 on the way to work
1 after each meal
1 after getting drunk

I probably average 4 or 5 a day. I'd smoke a pack a day if I was on vacation and drinking all day long, though. Week-long Las Vegas hangovers are shit.

I did do that for a while, but then I'd vape all the time. I need to quit entirely. I can't control it anymore. There's no moderate consumption for me.

I think most people start smoking either because they think it's cool, or a quick (legal) reprieve from the toxic environment around them. Then from there you gain a dependence on nicotine so when you grow out of it being "cool," or your situation changes and you're no longer in a toxic environment, you keep smoking anyway.

Friend of mine has smoked a pack a day since high school. Had a heart attack 2 weeks ago. His heart stopped beating and he stopped breathing. He was 45.

He was god damn lucky because my wife was working with him at the time, did the cardiac compression thing, got 911 on the phone, there was an ambulance in the village (which is rare) and they shocked his heart back into working.

He's alive now, but has trouble climbing stairs.

>> No.16920493

People who chain smoke have it as their goto way of spending free time.
It's just something to do that gives you something to look forward to so that you don't stop working only to sit there and stare at a wall not knowing what to do with your free time.
You could use hobbies like reading or playing a musical instrument instead but those take more effort and can become annoying instead of relaxing. At least with a cigarette there is basically zero effort or conscious thinking required. Biggest thing you have to worry about is simply buying more of it.

You need to recondition yourself and your sweet tooth. Its hard to break a habit like that but so worth it, you've got a ridiculous sweet tooth and you indulge more than you should. By eating more natural sweets like actual fresh fruit for a long period of time, you can get the same dopamine rush as you currently get with you're insanely unhealthy sweets. 40 days is how long it takes to form a good habit, you can avoid sugar for 40 days anon, right?

gotta tough it out and let your body get back to normal before it got used to the nicotine

I fluctuate between 5 a day and 2 packs.
Depends what I'm doing that day.
If I'm at work or "gaming" and it's not intense, 2 packs.
If my mouth is busy kissing gf's lips ...
or my hands are busy and need my eyes on my work ... like woodworking or with tools of any kind ... no distractions ...
so that cuts my consumption to zero.
I also sometimes put a smoke in my mouth and forget to light it ... for hours at a time.
No craving is felt ... it is purely circumstantial for me.

I'm 61 days smoke free. If you're a casual smoker quit asap. Once you get hooked, quitting becomes really hard.
It took me more than a year to get where I am. AND I still have cravings sometimes.

I wish every Anon that wants to quit the strength to do so.
