>12 packets for a dollar
How is nissin and maruchan supposed to compete when their packaged ramen now costs 50 cents a packet?

these are noodles that are from leftover plates anon

i'd avoid eating those in general, but if it's all you can afford at the very least avoid the spice packets. diy your own, because it's most likely the lowest of the lowest quality ingredients going in those.

China wins again! take that Japan and Korea!
but seriously how do these companies make money if a box is 99 cents?

Well the Amazon reviews say "just gross" "belongs in the trash" "absolute garbage" and they're all 1 star, so maybe that's how. Just because some dumb fuck will spend $1 to try out the ramen doesn't mean they'll do it twice. Any food business without repeat customers will inevitably fail.

"Made in P.R.C."
In other words, "ignore the list of ingredients, this shit's made out of drywall dust and factory floor sweepings."
I bet it tastes... different.

Inevitably, yes, but not for a very long time.
Panda Signature got their big push into the US when walmart ditched all of maruchan's offerings and started selling only this garbage in the midwest.

Then go bitch to your local manager. My local Walmart doesn't have that shite and still stocks Maruchan and Nissin in addition to other brands in the Asian food section.

Surely seeing $1 will seem cheaper than four nines

It's really a neat elaborate scam they got going, sell garbage, and make them buy huge quantities, and sell it at prices that imply it's made of sawdust and gutter oil, someone will buy it!

>> No.16912087

Obviously I'm not American, but I read that sort of shit as 99.99c which obviously means something very different. Weird.

I don't understand why people bitch about 'too cheap' ramen. 500g of spaghetti can be bought here for 26c. 1kg of white rice for 39c. Nobody bitches about the proportional 'cheapness' of price/calories there.

maruchan and nissin for the us market is made in the us

hardly any food is shipped over from china unless it's truly bottom rung garbage

Someone on Reddit reached out to the manufacturer, Albany Farms (who do not even list this product on their website), and they confirmed that nothing in them is derived from animals, regardless of flavor.
Not that it really means anything, but it seems to be less of an "actual food" than even Maruchan noodles.

>> No.16912767

Gee, I sure hope it doesn't have any lead in the flavoring packets!

The noodles in cheap ramen packs are shit and I've never understood why people advocate using their own food to season instead. Go big and buy better quality noodles or stay low and accept the shit ramen for what it is. There is no in between.

This stuff was a big buy-in done during the pandemic because the other ramen brands were very hard to source at the time. This shit is gross and big retailers are having trouble getting rid of it (Walmart), so selling it off cheaply to discount stores is kind of the last ditch effort to get rid of it.
