Why do people make such a big fuss about 'authentic' pizza, but when paella is mentioned, a dish that is always prepared wrong outside of Valencia, no one bats an eyelid.
And it's not even a debate about what tastes better, real paella is really good, it's just harder to make. Almost no one gets the 'socarrat' part correct.
Honestly, if a place offers paella, but the rice doesn't look like picrel, you've been scammed

Well actually there are variations of paella which are popular in north Africa. Algerian Paella is a somewhat known thing and I would assume Morocco and maybe Tunisia would have their own variations. Also North African cuisine is a Mediterranean cuisine (shocker!!), and Spanish and North African cuisine have both greatly influenced each other. There is Africa North of the Sahel you know

Italians are autistic about their peasant food culture. Which is fine. I don't mind it. I think it is funny and just part of their third world cultural insecurity. I swear every male Italian I've known has to be hyper aggressive and opinionated about the 'correct' way to do everything so they can be passive aggressive or directly aggressive little bitch men to (mostly) women and weaker people all the time to fend off their insecurity. I enjoy it about italians though and the che vuoi/finger purse thing is pretty funny too and the wine is great.

I've enjoyed all the time I've spent in spain though aside from major (cool) urban areas like Barcelona it is like being stuck in the middle of bum fuck nowhere with a bunch of illiterate village idiots who burn their trash and poison stray dogs and cats for fun. It feels like going back to the early 1990's.

Portugal is no better, but the woman are much frigging uglier. Wine is better than spain.
