>the chicken breast was woody again
Fuck these overgrown radioactive mutant broiler chickens pumped full of antibiotics and growth hormones. I'm sticking with thighs or whole chickens from now on.

If it's that bad, you can usually identify it before you buy it, you sperg.

>> No.16886982

that's what you get for wanting to eat chicken, nasty as it is.

anyway sorry that happened. I thought you could tell by looking at it and touching it before you buy.

Basically the chicken breasts are so large that they constantly tear themselves apart and reheal, making the breasts consist mainly of scar tissue. Scar tissue isn't tender or juicy, it's hard and woody.

dry brine. they'll come out so juicy you'll wonder why your prepared chicken breast any other way before

it's just tough chicken meat.
broiler chickens are selectively bred for large breasts and I think they're fed hormones that make them more muscular as well (I'm not a chicken scientist, you look it up) and that can result in overly tough chicken breast muscles that taste like shit, commonly referred to as "woody" because it feels like you're chewing on wood because it's so dang tough. this makes the chicken consumer cry.
