I worked 2 1/2 years in a North Chicago Suburban supermarket fish market, ask me anything.

Mostly, all I can tell you is that you should only buy the heavy sale items as everything else is a crapshoot on whether you are getting something fresh or 3-4 days old.

We have whole catfish and these fucking blacks will want it cut up in random specific ways, then they will leave my 5 minutes hard work in the freezer section because they didn't realize 5 whole catfish weighing 4.5lbs would cost 27 dollars. I give out pounds and pounds of catfish filet everyday. All they make it fried catfish. My most hated part of my job is marching to the freezer, grabbing the 30lb box of snow crab legs, or king crab legs and then dealing with a nigger as they find a price and weight they like. 30 dollars a pound and they still buy it. They will spend 150 dollars on what is 2lbs of meat inside shells. I assume most of them steal it but once they leave my sight, I don't give a fuck.
