then I panfired them in a mix of butter and veggi oil to make a crunchy crust. then finished for 10 min in the oven. I found that the best partner for these patties are mashed tatties. thats is. but I dont have a picture so pls dont gas me.

Very nice. I make similar ones but with salmon. I like them with mashed potatoes, peas, and cauliflower with a cheese sauce

>did you put any tard sauce on them?
no. it may sound wierd.. but I find that mashed tatties - if made properly with lots of good butter - make a perfect "sauce" with perfect amount of fat and moist. yeah wierd but any other sauce will kill the signature crunchy crust in no time.

My preferred onion for fish cakes is either the small purple variety or the shallot, anything is fine though

You should try panko if it's available where you are. Best fried food breading I've ever had.

A lad I was at school with, his family found a cockroach baked into their loaf of bread, they didn't sue but agreed to a year's worth of free bread

Well yeah I get what you're saying, shit like a roach getting into the bread can happen even if you're holding up the workplace hygiene standards and stuff. This was in Brisbane, sometimes there's flying roaches there, and they have high food safety standards

They'd probably be niver if you pan fried them at fairly low heat, but still high enough to get a little sizzle, in plenty of fat.
The purists don't want me to say this, but margarine is actually perfectly fine in this case.
You probably used too much egg as well.

I hate the trend of trying to make a big deal out of a faulty product on social media.
Just take it back to the store ffs.
Your live isn't ruined because you got some bad rice from Lidl. You don't deserve a million bucks in compensation.

They deserved a year's worth of hard labor!
I've had cockroaches & sundry bugs on plates I've been served "fresh" in a restaurant.
I demanded a clean dish & recooked food or a single refund; I didn't demand a year's supply of free food.

What is "niver"? Did you mean "nicer"?

Also, what is that can in the top left of your picrel? All I can make out is "shitter med" kek.

From what I was told the bakery were worried that the cockroach incident would appear on the local news, there'd previously been a dead mouse found in somebody else's box of bran flakes. The bakery was a local family owned operation, competing with a couple bigger commercial bakeries and I guess they were happy with the deal.
A loaf a day isn't really much for a bakery, I know they have a lot of surplus because my Dad used to get bread to feed his cows that he had but that's a whole other story.

It's not the bakery that should go to jail and do hard labor; it's all the people (customer and/or press) that think a year's supply of free bread is appropriate payment for a bug that slipped in & got cooked (meaing, it was harmless). A few free loaves, sure.

I'd call those fish cakes. Like crabcakes, but you admit that the fish is fish unlike crabcakes where you pretend the fish is crab.
