I don't get it. It's all bad tv anyways. English kitchen nightmares sounds like he's on Xanax and who gives a shit about these idiot restauranteurs that are either so far up their own asses that they won't take advice, or are so deep in debt that they're just going to go out of business for it anyway.
I like the spectacle of the American version. I like the fridge checks. I like the terrible wait staffs. I like the terrible food. I like the water phone. I like the spectacle.

Other than the Fish and Anchor I can't even recall any owners being all that dramatic, Brits are just more muted when they're on TV I guess.

The US version is drastically dumbed down to emphasize screaming, vulgar close-ups on people's stupid reactions, gratuitous low brow restaurant staff drama and generally tailored for the typical double-digit IQ muttoid audience.

Why come superior british tv shows need so many laugh tracks when american tv dont?

>> No.16816334

>>16816199
I think the worst thing about it was how blatantly formulaic it. Yes the british one had a formula too, but it at least had a fair amount of variety with how it played out as well. The US one was literally exactly the same every single time. It felt so lazy.

Basically every restaurant ‘rescue’ show. Turn it into a fast-casual burger joint with about 5 idential menu options that charge 40% more than they should

Gordo looks like a fuckin zombie in this pic m8

>> No.16817140

>>16817079
I can't remember the exact details but there was one episode where it was particularly egregious, because Ramsay basically didn't even attempt to keep any of the original theme or or personality of the restaurant, despite it clearly meaning a lot to the owner and him basically begging Gordon not to completely change things
but he was like
>Well, I did some research, and you know what this town doesn't have?
>A great steak house
>You're a steak house now
I mean normally he at least tries to maintain some of the same style of food but in that episode he was just like "well if you don't want to be a steakhouse then I guess I'll just fuck off"

>> No.16817156

>>16817140
At least people like Jon Taffer are honest and explain to owners "look this is a business to make money, you can make money to fund your true passion somewhere else" vs Ramsay acting like they should love being a steakhouse despite not wanting it

He's out of practice because he focuses so much on owning restaurants and his shows. I would genuinely be surprised if he cooks not in front of a camera for his restaurants more than five times in a year.
