I used to eat these and the italian subs on the regular when I was an exterminator. They're big on calories which was what I needed. The cheap slices of 7-11 pizza always hit the spot after a long day, as greasy and doughy as they were.

I've eaten similar sandwiches and it partly contributed to my habit of just packing a cooler when I go on long drives.

I do, I add a little extra mustard mayo because they are kind of dry.
Pre-covid they were bringing out interesting variations of sandwiches like mufallata, roast beef on onion rolls, and even a sort of bahn mi.
The italian sub is ok too.

>What's ironic about buying a sandwich from a different shop?

Some people think subway is garbage and serves rotten food. And there's some truth to it. The chicken is formed and fake grill marks are placed onto it. The tuna salad is literally just tuna and mayo, no extra ingredients. I think it's a sad restaurant and that sandwich in OP's pic looks sad as well, but the benefit of subway is you can add on loads of vegetables AND SAUCES for free to make it half-way decent, and it's similar in cost to $5.

I agree, toasting is the key. I microwaved the other half & it turned the bread into chewy mess but all the extra chewing let you savor the taste of that stuffing bread & the mayo cranberry wasn't stingy and tasted good hot and cold.

well the counter argument is the cooking process destroys the DNA. mind you the only cookware subway has is a bread oven and a tiny toaster oven for melting cheese.
