How do you know your homemade fleshlight is no good before even trying it? Don't buy too hastily.

lmao how do you fail at pound cake

>> No.16762662

also cut it open and let us see the inside of the cake
some good bakers can identify problems by looking at it, describe the texture of the top skin too, it looks airy and crisp to me for some reasons and that middle part looks too moist for a poundcake

cover it with some glaze. it'll fill the divot and hide it. then when someone eats it, the first thing they'll think is "wow extra glaze"

>> No.16762684

200 gram flour
200 gram butter
200 gram sugar
4 eggs
Vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt

1h at preheated 160c

It could be that I just added it all together instead of mixing the butter, sugar and vanilla smooth, adding eggs one by one. Sieve the flour and finally adding the baking powder and salt. Mix another 2 minutes until it's smooth and fluffy

dear op anon, it seems you have already identified the problem on your own. try not skipping steps and see how it turns out? also god damn that's a BIG cake

It is probably just that you didn't mix it right, yeah. Creaming your butter and shit isn't just a meme, and now you've had a valuable learning experience. Keep at it.

I've been making pound cakes for years and have literally never had this happen.
Either you aren't correctly following the recipe or the baking powder is old.

I call that a win. Realistically, fuck ups in the kitchen normally mean wasted time, effort, and food. Least you don't have to toss it

>> No.16763471

>>16762706
you fucked it, didn't you?

>> No.16763520

You opened the oven 45 minutes slammed the door closed and the burst of cold air made it collapse

>> No.16763549

>>16762706
Did you open the oven while it was baking? Remember to put it on a higher temperature, pop the cake in and then put the recommended temp from the recipe in the oven, checking the color from outside and doing the knife/stick check around five or two minutes before reaching the time from the recipe, or at least 20 min after.
Also, judging from >>16762684 , creaming the butter with the sugar is what gives the cake its consistency , so don't ignore that.
With that said, don't worry about the result and maybe try it again another time. The beauty of the pound cake is that it's cheap and always tasty, even if you fuck up — unless you let it burn to ashes or something.

You opened the oven too soon and then weren't gentle enough closing it. Those two together basically guarantee that your cake will collapse. With a pound cake, it's better to err on the side of a couple minutes too long than to open the door too soon.

put some fruit jam in the hole and top it with whipped cream
