The Gin Fizz is fine, nothing special. Now, if you wanna be cooking with gas, we need to go to the Star. God that's a good cocktail.

You wanna improve the gin fizz, you have to realize it has a limited number of moving parts. It has syrup, it has gin, it has citrus juice (lemon/lime), it has carbonated water, and it has egg whites. The latter two you can't move. But you can add bitters!

You can't significantly alter the flavor profile of the fizz through the syrup, but you can lightly alter it. You can do combination flavors with the lemon and lime if you're clever. Bitters add a ton of flavor variance. Gin is always good. Barspoon of [thing] is also another good way of improving. And the garnish is also a factor.

I do mine with orgeat, Beefeater, a barspoon of Maraschino, a dash of Absinthe, a few dashes of Angostura on top, and a lemon-lime 50/50 mix for the citrus juice. It's damn good.

Just do a reverse dry shake and that thing takes a tenth of the effort.
