Bros, the bag of rice I bought had weevils in it. Everything in my pantry has to get thrown out. How do I even know throwing the grains out will get rid of the stupid things?

>> No.16696536

Maybe go look up how to get rid of them, you fucking dipshit. The fuck do we care about your inability to solve basic problems?

Do you only eat rice once a year or something? I've never gotten weevils in my rice and I buy bags 50 pounds at a time.

That sucks. You should start storing your dry goods in airtight containers like a civilized person

>>16696561
what is the problem with plastic?
Do you really think a shit ton of BPA or phytoestrogen is going to transfer from the surface of a plastic bin to some bone dry grains of flour, sugar, or rice?

I buy bag of rice
Less then a week later, weevils spawn within the bag
I can only suppose that they came in with the bag, the grains had eggs in them

OP, they are coming from somewhere or you got a bad source
judging by how stupid you are you are going to skip the possibiltiy that theyre coming from your home

because of this i suggest buying a sealed fucking bag

Yes I've accepted the fact that I've eaten weevil eggs but I've never seen live weevils crawling around in the rice. I only cook 1 cup at a time and I've never seen any. I've had that happen with flour once because I rarely bake but never rice, even though it takes me months to get to the bottom of a 50 pound bag. I don't even keep it airtight either, I fold the bag over and clip it closed. Maybe weevils are just more common in certain geographic areas.

There were no weevils inside the pasta and other rice within my pantry. The infestation of the jasmine rice I bought was just beginning, there wasn't a massive swarm of the things within the pantry. I eat rice very frequently so I was able to catch their appearance early. I don't understand how this makes me dumb. How are you supposed to know that a bag is contaminated when you buy it at the store? The weevils won't even hatch until days after you bring it home.

>> No.16696636

Are possible insect eggs the reason why we're supposed to rinse the rice?

>> No.16696655

>>16696636
Getting rid of insect eggs would require washing the entire batch of rice, not just the portions you intend to eat, and then heating them over a low flame to dry them. But yes, washing rice is partly done to eliminate impurities that would have usually been present.

The same happened to me with dried chickpeas. Sealed. A few months after purchase, it looked like an ant farm. I yeeted the bag outside.
