Romanian here, we have no food that's both original and good.

Is there even something like 'original' Romanian food? As far as I can tell, pretty much everything is present (admittedly in different versions) in other countries from the region.

Mititei - kind of a chewy (due to baking powder being added) caseless barbecued sausage. Usually with mustard or Aioli.

Frigărui, imo one of the best ways to have meat

is there anything noteworthy done to the meat because that article makes it sound pretty generic insofar skewered/grilled meats go

That's probably based on Shashlik. And Mititei is probably based on Cevapcici. Let's face it, it's just Mamaliga.

As a genuine traditional food, there's a sort of pie-cake thing stuffed with hempseed foam, but the last time somebody made that was 100 years ago.

Intrigued. What's the name ?

>> No.16677358

>>16677321
"Turta cu julfa". Apparently there's a modern version which uses walnuts, but that one's just a walnut pie, and a pretty low-tier one. The hempseed foam was the entire reason for that dish.

Aside from sarmale and mamliga what other s said:

"Ciorba perisoare" - I had this in the citiy of Sibiu

Basically soup with meatballs, but it has a very unique flavour due to the amount of tarragon they'll add.
