So I was comparing the nutritional values of sardines in oil, and sardines in tomato.

For some reason sardines in tomato have less protein. How does that work?

>> No.16642552

the tin with tomato contains less sardine than the tin with oil

Oil contains more protein than tomato. Don't buy sardines in tomato sauce either, they're rubbish. I'd only recommend it if they're fried sardines in tomato sauce.

>Though many think squid and calamari are the same, both are different. Some even say that calamari is just the Italian word used for squid.
>Calamari is the name representing the species of squids which have side fins running on the full length of the body. Squids have fins, but these run only for short distance on the sides of the body. Calamaris are similar to the squids in many respects, but are often more tender when compared to the other squids.
>Squids are larger in size than Calamaris. When you see both, you can make out the difference easily. Squids have pointed small flaps on the narrow end of the bodies. These resemble arrows. A calamari has long triangular wing-like flaps on either sides of the body.
>Calamari is best for frying, grilling, and stir frying dishes. As the flesh is tenderer, it gets cooked soon and is tastier. Squid is best when used for stuffing and stewing.

Who tf are you quoting? What you're saying makes absolutely no sense, there are hundreds, probably thousands of species of squid that are both much bigger or much smaller than the types of squid labelled 'calamari', and as you said yourself, calamari is squid

Thats what I was saying, but that anon was speaking as though 'squid' is just one single type of animal and calamari is another smaller squid with different fins, completely non-sensical

Also I see no evidence to support that calamari is a specific type of squid, it can be any type of edible squid and is used interchangeably

What a pointless waste of an argument all because some retard got embarrassed for thinking calamari wasn't squid

>there are hundreds, probably thousands of species of squid that…
There are a bit more than 300 known species in total.
Calamari all come from one specific genus; Sepioteuthis, part of the Loliginidae family.

Glass squid is not calimari. Giant squid is not calamari. Cuttlefish is not calamari. There are plenty of things within the Decapodiformes superorder which qualify as squid but are distinctly not calimari.
