Is it actually good? Im not fucking with jellies eels, but pie and mash looks somewhat appetizing.

>> No.16636187

No, it's known to create mustard gas. Stick with the jellied eels.

"Pie and mash" from a traditional east london pie and mash shop isn't great, its just a pretty basic meat pie in parsley sauce

But like homemade pie from a good pub can be great

Makes sense. I would add sautéed garlic, onions, and carrots to the meat pies.

I wouldn't want mashed potatoes. Do Brits get fries (chips) with these pies? That would be more appealing

Neat. I'd try that. British food isnt my favorite but it has a few things it does pretty well. I like what I've had so far.

Had a chicken balti pie when I was in Britain once and it was great desu. Would definitely have it again.

Look into any meat pie recipe from scratch, just be sure to use a pastry recipe with shortening. Any mash recipe will work. Even the liquor is easy to make, it's literally just parsley, flour and fish stock.

shephards/cottage pie is legit. fish and chips is good bar food too. come to think of it, that's the best way to sum up british cuisine: jellied eels at worst and a good pairing with a pint of beer at best.

Why all the hate for British food? It's all meat pies, potatoes, sausages, beer, fried shit, and curry. It sounds good to me but then again I am a burger.

Unironically yes. It's basic as fuck, but I love pie and mash. Best shops in London are Manze's, either the one at Deptford or Tower Bridge. Arments isn't bad either.
