These are my favorite fruits. Green figs are juicier than black/brown/mission/whatever figs though.

Do they stay green? Like they're green when ripe? Never heard of those.

might be talking about white figs, which do stay a nice bright green when ripe. you guys should get your own fig tree, they're eventually very rewarding :)

Mine usually start off growing grass green, but get more orange/yellowish with a dab of red on the bottom when they're ripe. firmness is a better indicator of ripeness than color is, though. i like to call them golden figs :)

thanks. im really lucky, the tree has taken over the backyard and we get a pretty nice harvest every summer.
>>16631638
i only have this pic of when i was making jam but it's basically the same as op or if you google white figs, whole bunch of little tendrils in a red flesh.

anon do you remove the seeds? i've never seen anyone do that but it seems like a good idea. i kind of don't like ripe fig jam as much because of its mushy seedy texture but i feel like the inner flesh not being there might make me enjoy it more
as it is i only use the unripe figs for jam because those stay firm and whole and still taste pretty damn good because you essentially boil them in a sugar syrup and they get enough but not too much sweetness from that.

na, they're either seedless or the seeds are so tiny that it doesn't make a difference. I only ever made it once but the texture was wonderful, a quality fruit preserve with little chunks of the skin for a nice variety.
i made sure to buy some nice brie for that jam.
bonus pic of a fluffy rat motherfucker helping himself to some fruit on one of the higher branches. I get some good birdwatching in too.

the figs digest the wasps, but even if they didn't, eating wasps is based

kek in our garden it's starlings, but thankfully they only get at the ripe ones which i'm not interested in.
and brie is a good idea, i've been using gorgonzola but i think it's time to switch it up a bit.

Squirrels get at mine too, but only a little. I climb around in the tree pretty often so I think they may be scared.

Who likes fresh figs? Probably just about anyone who has ever had one.

And no matter how many fig newtons or how much fig preserves you have eaten, it's nothing like a fresh fig right off the tree. People who plant fig trees are doing god's work.

I don’t like them. Every little seed is like the thorax of a wasp.

One of the wasps from these figs flew into my 9 year old sister's urethra in 2001 and we took her to hospital.
