if the fish comes in a sauce, i.e tomato sauce, ill eat them straight from the can. for kippers ill make a sandwhich of just the fillets and a little smear of spicy mustard on good bread, or ill fry up the fish and serve with poached eggs on toast, mackerel, you can make a salad with mayo and celery and red onion and whatever.

bros, I think I fucked up.
I just went to an Asian grocery store and bought a bunch of canned fish; grabbed one of everything in an orgy of deenzquisition.
It all had jap writing on it, but most had import label stickers of ingredients in english (I'm in the US, so that's the law here for imported food).
Half were labeled sardines, but the other half say "saury".
WTF is saury? Is it good? bad? will I die if I eat it? get mercury poisoning?
Also, I've heard that North Atlantic deenz are good; asiatic ocean deenz not good. Is this just a meme, or should I not buy canned fish from Asian grocers?
Sorry if I'm overreacting, but I don't want to die or get fat.
Also, what about ME/NA canned fish distributors? There's an awful lot of Arabic/MidEast grocers popping up in the US with their own deenz and I'd love to try. Most seem to be from Morocco or Tunisia. Suggestions, tips?
God, I wish I was dead. Why did I do this?

Oh, also, most everyone recommends extra virg olive oil. I noticed that asian deenz often have soybean oil. This an issue?

i have eaten allot of store bought sardines from different countries and i can tell you that the best region is:
the Baltic.
particularly of Latvian origin.

they're obviously hard to find if you're not from there, i usually have to order them online.
it just tastes so much better, sardines are more a mainstay of eastern European culinary, so the recipe is more refined i assume. mind, they're called sprats over there. apparently its actually the same fish
all cans generally have 1g of salt / 100g, which i guess is just the inherit salinity of sea water or the fish

I mean for god's sakes you're in a thread about sardines, do you *really* think this thread is secretly about anime?
You could despite anime and still have the same discussions about cuisine on a cuisine board. Is it so incomprehensible to you that 4chan has millions of daily users, most of which don't even give anime a passing thought?
