If Yan can cook, so can you!

Man this guy was based and personally I think he was perfect for the era. No way he would've gotten famous if he debuted a cooking channel on YT today

I think people want Rachael Ray and chocolate pizzas. They don't actually need a way to make fresh affordable food quickly when they're more than happy to pay $20 for a hamburger to be delivered to them by a homeless person.

Notice how most cooking shows got replaced by travelogue bullshit and endlessly gimmicky cooking "competitions". All the hosts who used to teach people how to cook and have fun with cooking got coopted into crapping out hours and hours of mindless bullshit programming because that's what sells.

how do you know this? are you one of the NPC automatons who watch all these pathetic youtube shits and gobbles it up?

Agreed, but at the time "cooking tv" wasn't even really a genre. It wasn't a given that people would want to watch chefs cook, it was a pretty lowly occupation. Kenji, Ragusea, and all the rest are pretty much riding off of the coattails of Yan, Emeril, Two Fat Ladies, etc.

The middle east is being deliberately destabilised by the Zionist Jewish elite in order to flood white countries with culturally incompatible hostile Muslim people who hate us and breed like flies.

You will be replaced.
You will do nothing.
Your kids? A hated minority in their own country.

He is still around somewhere apparently because I heard him being interviewed on NPR last night.

He is big on using what's in season and not relying on refrigerated and frozen foods.

Martin Yan is fucking classic.
When I was a kid in San Francisco, I got to go with my aunt to a taping of one of his shows. Yeah I’m an oldfag.

Damn I miss oldschool cooking shows like his. He’s a professional chef who also happens to be entertaining.
Nowadays all we have are professional entertainers who also happen to make some food.

Dude's still going. I like when he's showing off how fast he can do something, and his narration devolves into random noises.

Stephen Yan did "Wok With Yan", Martin Yan did "Yan Can Cook".
As far as I know, they're completely unrelated, but apparently Martin Yan worked as an assistant and demonstrator on Stephen Yan's show back in the 80s. Can't find a picture of the two of them together, though.
