Friendly reminder to check your blood pressure and moderate your sodium intake

>> No.16617205

I've got genetically high blood pressure and it's bullshit. My mom has high blood pressure and my grandpa had high blood pressure. He was a cattleman, not fat, walked 5 miles a day at 82 and ate pretty healthy for the silent generation and it still killed him. That's why I'm on medication for it.

I have low blood pressure. Should I up my salt game?

>> No.16617236

doctor convinced me to start getting annual bloodwork even though I'm still in my 20s. its interesting because its already obvious what will be an issue in a decade. nothing's in the bad ranges yet, but my fasting blood sugar is at the high level of good, which sucks because I already don't really drink soda or eat sweets. too much bread and rice.

If you actually look there is no good evidence for this prescription. Its mostly based off of shoddy observational studies which are nearly worthless. What actually should be reduced if you have high blood pressure is fructose and or refined carbohydrate due to the elevated insulin and its effects on sodium retention.

Same ... it sucks. I'm not at the medication point yet, but I'll probably be there when I'm like 40.

I've maintained a decent 130 / 80 since I got diagnosed tho, and regularly read 119 / 75 a lot. You just gotta work at it anon... stock drinking coffee, alcohol and just workout twenty minutes a day.

It doesn't cause hypertension... it's not good for people who suffer from hypertension. Just like eating too much sodium and sodium nitrates.
