$29? I know single people on it that get like $200+ a month, a family is getting well over $100 a week for snap. Not to mention this is supposed to be assistance, they still can own assets and have jobs. They just can't make too much.

A bartender making $22K a year and not claiming shit tons more in tips they get to pocket gets $200 a month for food in my state. Makes me think I should just quit my job and go on gibs after I have enough in my 401K and a property.

Heavily subsidized healthcare, free food, $22k in taxable wages, which means your effective tax rate is like 8% and you pay nothing on capital gains, and you get your pick of chill part time jobs.

No wonder no one wants to work. It doesn't reap any rewards unless you're making over $70k a year + benefits. Even then it's likely way more stress than anything part time paying $13/hr.

In that case you are paying 8 bucks for a back of chips with one extra chip added.

This. We were on assistance for a bit when we had kids but we make too much now. As an assistant manager I basically make the equivalent of $15/hr not including bonuses. I question whether it's worth it. The Mrs. has a cozy government job so I might as well just pay off the house and NEET it up.

If you're dumb enough to buy a single bag of meme chips from Amazon you probably already pay for Prime (in which case shipping is free) or you're bundling it with $18.01 worth of other merchandise to get free shipping over $25.

Nigger.

Actually you're the idiot because a lot of states don't do means testing, and if they do a lot of them exclude homes, cars, and retirement savings. So as long as you don't make too much income you can still qualify for benefits.

Now this is all state dependent so you'd have to look up the guidelines in your area, but theres a good chance you could have and make way more than you realize and still receive good benefits.

The US only hates the people who make a lot of money and are working. If you already have a lot that's somehow OK. Pisses me off so much when politicians try to increase the ordinary income tax rate. Real rich people don't get a w-2 or that much ordinary income, so normal income tax brackets don't mean shit to them. That's how Jeff Bezos qualified for a childcare tax credit.

I used to be a tax accountant and the amount of people I saw brining in 7 figures in cash while paying next to no taxes was insane.

Long story short, get rental property.
