Sorry, but you may need to branch out. Cholula is 110mg/tsp and is tasty, cheap, and easy-to-find in supermarkets and box stores. Same goes for El Yucateco red at 90g/tsp. Huy Fong Sriracha is 80g/tsp.

Secret Aardvark may be a meme, but it's only 35g/tsp. However, once you've started ordering sauce online, your friends may start texting you soyjacks. It's a calculated risk. (Also, I'm not sure whether Aardvark's factory in Portland even exists anymore since the recent "diversification.")

I think that better & hotter sauces may tend to have less sodium because more of the flavor is coming from the peppers and other ingredients. (The very hottest sauce on my shelf is sodium-free.) Plus with hotter sauces, you tend to use less.

I've tried a bunch. I can't stand the "vinegar-salt-water" ones like OP's pic. There's some Jamacian jerk type hot sauces that are like a BBQ/hot sauce. Pretty good. But in the end--sorry /ck/--Sriracha wins. Thick like ketchup, pretty hot and it just works with everything.

I'm not into the "atomic butt blaster" sauces either. Just want to spice up my soup, or a wrap, or some grilled chicken, or some rice. I like Sambal too. A confession would be Ortega hot sauce--I love that shit.

One of the reasons I recommended Cholula [Original] is that it has a little more "body" than Tabasco--a hint of sweetness, a pleasant "warmth", despite containing zero sugar/carbs. Plus you get a Pepper Waifu on the label. And a small bottle should cost just a few bucks at Walmart, so not much of a loss if you dislike it.

But it's been so long since I've had Frank's that I can't directly compare.

This sauce is really really good. I picked it up on a whim and I think it's better than any of the typical ones (tabasco, crystal, frank's, valentina, cholula, tapatio, el yucateco). Of those I think crystal is best for common american sauce and el yucateco is best for common mexican sauce. Obviously the fancy soyjak ones are going to be better though. But I have to say that grace sauce is honestly as good as a fancy sauce, very clear fragrant pepper flavor. >>16567992 Get that one anon

Has anyone here ever tried those retarded "ass/fart/shit" sauces that they sell at Bass Pro, etc? Presumably they are only ever purchased as gag gifts for Father's Day. Has a single bottle even ever been opened, or do they merely sit in the cupboard for an occasional "sensible chuckle" until Mom (or the heirs) eventually throws them away? They could just be selling bottles of water and food coloring, for all we know.

I agree completely with your take on Cholula. It's a really solid sauce all around. I think almost evey one of the major sauces has positives and negatives. The only one I personally dont care for is Valencia, but that may be because the first and last time I had any it was a giant jug my dad bought me kn college and I think it went somewhat off at some point. Each pairs best with different foods though, for example, Frank's I think goes best with wings while Crystal goes best in a rice dish or with seafood. Tabasco, in my opinion, is the most versatile since it's so few ingredients, but the vinegar can be overwhelming.

I recently found this sauce in the international section of a local store and really like it because, like Tabasco, it's very simple and can go on anything.
