I feel like appetizers have fallen out of common use in home-cooking. Like, sure, if you're going to a sports bar or Italian or Chinese or something there are plenty of options, but who really eats appetizers at home?

About the only time I can think is like around holidays where you do the one big meal around mid-afternoon, but you know 11 in the morning you start to trot out the pickles and olives and crackers and lil' smokies and all that type of thing. Maybe at a BBQ people will do some snacking while the meat is cooking? I dunno, when else do you eat appetizers?
