Has anyone tried to brew their own hard seltzer? Is it possible to make something as tasty as whiteclaw?

Whiteclaw is so fucking good bros, but here in Australia they've marketed themselves as some kind of luxury drink and charge $25 for a 4 pack.

It's not even close to being the same

Only distilling spirits can run the risk of methanol poisoning, it's not a concern with brewing

No, hard seltzers are brewed like beer. You can get ones with vodka but that's not the norm

Nah. But I've got a Cooper's DIY kit. Just polished off the Draught which came out at 6.8%, and I bottled my European Lager about 10 days ago. That will come out at 5.7%. My next brew will be a Yorkshire Bitter.
Good value for money. For under $20 I brewed 30 750ml bottles of 6.8% beer.

It's literally the same thing

Seltzer is made by fermenting cane sugar or malted barley. Ferment some sugar to create booze. Then make a syrup with some fresh fruit. Then combine the 2 with some ice and soda water.

It's not, it's made via fermentation - not distillation, this allows them to skirt taxation in various districts via technicalities.

Basically: make sugar-water, with some yeast nutrients to provide a clean ferment. Then add yeast, wait a week or two, then add essential oils and some more sugar to carbonate it in the bottle. Then bottle that and wait a few weeks.

These guys are turbo-cringey in their delivery, but it's accurate.
