[ERROR] No.16548964 [Reply] [Original]

There was a thread about various cocktails the other day and some wet-behind-the-ears teenagers who still live in their mom’s basement insisted that that the Long Island Iced Tea didn’t taste like iced tea, so tonight, while I was at the bar with some friend to watch the Lions game, I ordered a couple I can confirm (as I had already did in the last thread) that they in fact _DO_ taste just like ice tea as I remembered from the 1980s (and they will fuck you up).

Also; general cocktail thread.

>> No.16548981

They don't taste anything like tea. Arizona iced tea has no tea flavor to it, either. Your average sugar addict doesn't allow any tea flavor to get through in what they call iced tea. By that standard, Fanta also tastes like iced tea.

My favourite is the Hemingway Daiquiri, because it tastes so refreshing. I prefer the Cocktailian version that contains more juice than others over most of the other recipes that use homeopathic amounts of grapefruit juice. So:
60ml rum
10ml maraschino liquer
10m simple srup
20ml lime juice
30ml grapefruit juice

went to victory brewing near Exton PA recently and they were selling liquor from a distillery out of new york called "Southern Tier Distilling Co."
I picked up most of their bourbon varieties, including Bottled in Bond, Smores, Cinnamon Candy Apple, and Smoked, as well as vodka and gin.
The smores bourbon is amazing and tastes like a tootsie roll, absolutely fantastic with root beer or dr. pepper. The cinnamon apple tastes like halfway between crown royale apple and fireball (but not spicy)

Same thing with me back in the 80s when I first started going to bars and trying out some different cocktails. The barmaid suggested a Long Island Iced Tea and I downed 3-4 of them as they’re so easy to drink and when I got off the bar stool, I almost hit the floor.

Those are tasty. El Presidente cocktail
50/50 Martini (with Lillet in place of vermouth)
Gin Southside cocktail
Pegu Club gin cocktail
Singapore Sling (bars can't ever make this one right)

Then there's applejack cocktails that I like, such as the true classic 'Star' cocktail (only use Peychaud's bitters) and the Jack Rose.
