I have come to associate that cheap fake-wood flooring with airbnbs (in that color) since so many of the ones we have stayed in have that.

Looks like a cut-price renovation. All you need are those trashy "bless this home" decor signs from hobby lobby.

>I own it actually. 2 units. Not super awesome inside but nice enough and the other unit pays most of my mortgage

which is theft because you perform no useful service and simply act as a vampire.

Install recessed lighting in the ceiling, replace the fan with one that doesn’t have lights or just remove it entirely, give the walls a new color, maybe a sage green or a bluish grey to accent your dark cabinets, replace your drapes with some faux wood blinds that’s match your cabinets and get a piece of art on the blank right wall and this kitchen will be tremendously improved. Whole project would cost about $500. Oh and a rug to run the length of the counter so it’s not all just tile.

And for gods sake get the god damn fire extinguisher off the wall and put it under the sink like everyone else.

It’s so easy you’re going to kick yourself for not knowing how.

Heat your pan up, add some canola oil and work it around the pan until the cooking surface is coated. Use a paper towel to remove excess oil, we just need a coating on the metal. Set your burner to medium high and watch for the oil to begin smoking. Once you see the oil smoking give it a few seconds and kill the heat. Let the pan cool down a bit and you should now be able to see a reflection in the pan. What you just did was polymerize a layer of oil onto the metal forming a temporary non stick surface.

See pic related. This is a stainless steel pan before being polymerized. Notice the typical dull stainless steel, no reflection.

This is a pan that has been polymerized with cooking oil and left to cool back down. Notice the reflection of the backsplash on the cooking surface. I can cook something as delicate as eggs in that pan without any sticking as if it were made of Teflon and when I’m down I can just scrub it down with soap and water to remove the oil layer.

Sorry but they are the gourmet line (still made in solingen). I don’t really own any expensive knives. I spent most of my kitchen budget on cookware since I can sharpen a cheap knife just as well as an expensive one. The one knife I did bother to spend a little more money on was my kitchen workhorse knife the 6” wusthof legende chefs knife which has the more expensive forged blade found in the wusthof ikon series but with a cheaper handle.

This is the constant battle I have with my mother. She wants to redesign her kitchen and complains about not having enough cabinet space to fit all her cookware so she wants to add more and I try and point out that the majority of the things she has are collecting dust and only used once a year at most. She just can’t accept that she doesn’t actually need four different 12” Teflon skillets, eight saucepots of all different sizes, three stock pots, roasting trays etc etc. I point out that I cook five times more than she does and I do it with a fraction of the hardware she has and by focusing on the cookware that matters I can spend more on the fewer pieces I’m buying to get the high quality stuff.

My kitchen cookware consists of

12.5” Demeyere stainless steel skillet
12.5” Le Creuset skillet
11” Demeyere stainless steel skillet
3qt Demeyere sauté pan
3.5qt Demeyere saucier
1.75qt Demeyere saucier
1qt All-clad saucier
8qt All-clad D5 stock pot
7.25qt Le Creuset dutch oven
5.5qt Le Creuset dutch oven.

Ten pieces of cookware (the Dutch ovens are even redundant but I was given one as a gift) and I’ve never run into something I couldn’t make because I didn’t have the hardware. It all fits in one organized cabinet.

When she wants to use the oven she has to remove it all and put in on the dining room table until the oven cools back down. Does she ever entertain large groups?
My mother has a similar amount of stuff, but there are times she actually does utilize it (usually with other family cooking as well and using more than one kitchen). Only a few times a year, perhaps, but it still gets used.

>by focusing on the cookware that matters I can spend more on the fewer pieces I’m buying to get the high quality stuff.
I wish more people understood this.
My hardware sounds similar to yours. I own some Le Creuset (though I went with Staub for my ovens), and a small assortment of skillet/sauté/saucier with one carbon steel skillet.
Similar story with my cutlery; a few really nice knives, and a couple which I don’t like to admit what I paid for them.
People seem to think I’m rich or just blow all my money on kitchenware; I can’t seem to convince them it’s easy to buy a handful of top quality things when you aren’t buying overpriced 50pc sets of cookware/knives from bed bath & beyond.

Exactly. I pieced mine together over a two year period where I slowly replaced the cheap cookware I have in >>16543617 that was gifted to me as a housewarming present. Door frames are different heights, flooring doesnt reach the wall etc. My subs got sick of me, but I always told them I have to look at my house and they can go fuck up somebody elses house

The fridge doesn't fit, and you have a cheap cook top instead of a rangetop despite having a hood. And your ovens aren't very high BTU for searing (not a cause for oven removal).

You should remove the top of the enclosure from the fridge and get a SubZero Pro series. It protrudes only 24" inches as it is a top compressor, meaning it would fit within it.

https://www.subzero-wolf.com/sub-zero/configurator#sort=%40fdisplayorder82424%20descending&f:Style=[Pro]

I am currently going without a fridge and have almost enough saved to get a good deal on the pro series.

Range, I would suggest a Bluestar (gas or propane only).

Ovens look good but maybe consider a small salamander for proper broiling place it to the right of the cooktop area, removing the second to last cabinet on the right side (from right to left), and shifting the rounded part there to make room for it.
