I would like to start cooking my own food over buyting premade shit just to save time. My problem is I don't know manyr recipes and don't know where to start. Do you guys have some platform/app that can give me ideas?

Do you have one you could recommend to me? I eat meat, no allergies and would like to focus on getting plenty of protein but also keeping it healthy. A lot of the apps I see around are plant-based which is not what I want.

Do people really try to cook at home with overcomplicated gimmick Youtuber recipes? No wonder they give up and just eat fast food.

Anyway, I recommend starting by just cooking ingredients and learning techniques, learn to cook meat, veg and starches so that they're tasty and good, combine to make simple meals. e.g.
>steak with baked potato and asparagus
>chicken rice and steamed broccoli
etc.

That's the intro level and will get you comfortable with technique, ensure you can whip up something healthy when you're tired or don't have time for fancy shit, plus it ensures you can make use of any ingredients you have lying around, for example leftovers from more complex recipes.

Of course you'll want to mix it up so then you can turn to the more complex recipes but you'll have a better handle on how to cook them and will gradually be able to guess whether they'll work well or not.

protip: 90% of the time cooking shit yourself takes the same amount of time as reheating frozen pre-made shit, but it tastes better and makes a much larger volume of food.
In the time you spend 7 or 10min reheating a frozen meal you can make the 4x the portions of the same meal from scratch, saving you time in the long run.

Hey OP

Best advice I can give you as someone trying to be a homecook is to not blindly follow recipies for cooking. Instead, look at like 5 different sources for the same recipie and then make the meal your own way taking ideas from all of them.

This is imo the best way to discover what flavours work well with eachother and also to find out what herbs/spices/seasonings you personally like.

Cooking is a very subjective thing and there isn't a right answer because everyone likes different things.

>Now this next ingredient is only found in a monastery at the top of a mountain in Hunan province and you have to learn Wushu from master Chu before he will let you harvest some. Then you have to boil it in at least 5 changes of water to remove the poison and ferment it in a salt brine for 6 months. Or you could use basil

That + Don(t listen when someone says that it's the only real recipe for a dish. Sometimes you can make much better dishes when you get out of the box
