Has anyone had experience with these ooni pizza ovens. I want to get into the pizza game but I’ve never had a good pizza made in a standard oven. Was thinking about getting one of these so I can stop paying the pizza jew.

never tried it, a friend built his own stone oven, don´t know the price but it does make for a good conversation to politely complimenting the host for his ´za

I want something portable that I can take with me to the family cabin and I don’t plan on staying in my current house for more than another couple years but maybe down the line I would consider making my own.

I just use a cast iron pan and my oven, comes out great, just cook the dough a little bit with oil on it before I add toppings

I got one of these recently. Pretty damn good. You've got to know how to make your pizza though. If you are relatively new to genuine pizza making then your first few will be shit and probably burnt to fuck.

i have an actual wood burning oven that i built and i still love pizza from my regular oven with a pizza stone. if you cant make a good pizza in a standard oven you wont be able to in a wood burning oven either

>> No.16491350

Does your oven have a self-cleaning mode? I've heard of that being used as a hack for cooking pizza. Might burn your house down though.

Got exactly that model, it's great.
Makes really good pizza but there's one drawback.

It's best to be used on warm spring / summer days as you don't want to bake pizza's in the rain or cold.

I went down the rabbit hole, it seems gas is the best option, as wood takes much longer to heat up, the two brands i would consider are ooni and gozney.

They’re all About the same size it really seems to be a matter of preference unless you need the biggest one which is the ooni 16, from what I’ve seen and videos online the people who make The best looking stuff usually use the Gozney stuff.

I've mostly heard good things about Ooni's

pros:
>gets really hot, makes beautiful charred crust
>compact and easily moved around
>multiple fuel options
>affordable

cons:
>heat not even, you need to rotate the pie during cooking

I suggest you just figure out how to make it work with your oven. I've managed to make surprisingly good pizza in my dinky toaster oven that barely does 450F. I either transfer the pizza from a regular sheet to one of these perforated sheets as soon as the dough is cooked enough to handle the transfer, or start the pizza off by pan frying it in lard on the stove to make more of a crispy deep dish pizza.

Made pizza in a regular weber gas grill recently. Just placed a pizza stone in the grill, heated it up, and added the pizza. Worked great, got leoparding on the underside, but no char on the top crust though. The grill reaches temperatures of 600 F / 315 C which is much hotter than a regular home oven.

You could just get a kettle grill and cook your pizza over charcoal. Much easier, way more functional and charcoal makes the best pizza.
