I don't mind too much as long as you do it as quickly as possible so the animal never realizes what's happening. Although I do find it a little disturbing that all this machinery and technology is being used to just become more efficient at killing. I'm not afraid of dying but I think maybe if we didn't have to kill so many animals it might not be a bad thing.

Also, milk and cheese.

Veganism is mental illness. You're telling me that if I love and care for an animal, I can't use it's abundance of milk and eggs? That's how you know you're not talking to a reasonable person, but an extremist.

I've seen some vegans say they're okay with eating eggs if they come from somebody's pet chicken that isn't going to be slaughtered. But then you have the other ones who say humans should not interfere with animals at all and just leave them to struggle in the wild. I'm curious to see how veganism changes once lab-grown animal products are available in stores.

I'll actually try to be nice and give a mature response as a change for once on this god forsaken website....

If you're considering going vegan for environmental reasons, consider hunting and fishing and trying to eat wild game or fish you harvest yourself. There are tons of good resources out there. MeatEater for example. In addition to that, you might as well try to start a garden or buy from local farmers markets or farmers as well. Anything organic/home grown/farm raised is infinitely better for your local community, and your body. In my opinion that investment is worth sticking it to these mega corps that factory farm all of our animals and produce. Additionally, hunting and conservation help do more for the environment than any of these whale wars/vegan/whatever bullshit activists do. We actually go out there and identify problems with ecosystems, and harvest our own food, instead of just going to the grocery store and buying soybean burgers from the same fucking people who make the cow sitting right next to them in the meat refrigerator part of Kroger.

Anyway, I would consider getting lots of fruits and veggies. The more natural food you can eat the better. I know a lot of vegans that are eating fucking pop tarts and pretend like they're holier than thou because I eat some Turkey or something

It is relevant because most vegans are go with the flow 'blue pilled' watch one documentary and become an expert, holier than thou know it alls who lecture you on why YOU should be vegan and why YOU are evil for eating meat instead of just minding their own fucking business. When I meat vegans I don't care. Eat whatever you want it doesn't effect me at all. The worse part is they claim to be 'pro conservation' and 'pro environment' but then they go after HUNTERS and ANGLERS instead of the people going to McDs or eating factory farmed horse shit.

They don't think critically

They don't shut the fuck up.

They don't know a smidgen of what they think they're an expert on. They think certain methods are evil and wrong, but don't realize basically the exact shit is being done to produce as well as meat.

Its relevant to the point 100% because >>16479734 as this guy said, unless you're 100% organic/home garden/off the grid you're still fucking up the environment and those animals are still dying.

The whole veganism thing just seems to be virtue signaling at a naive level for a lot of people. If people genuinely do not like meat that is a different thing entirely. If they oppose factory farming thats fine with me as well. If they shut the fuck up thats fine, but the problem is they don't. They won't leave me alone. Just leave me alone vegan demons!

Every current environmentalist action is just masturbation. Electric cars have a larger impact than used combustion engines due to inefficiencies of the conversion and storing of the electricity combined with the use of fossil fuels in production of the vehicle itself. Electricity that by the way for much of the world is still produced from coal and oil but it's not in your country where it could actually be overseen and regulated so it's not a concern. The soil only has about 40 years left before it's completely depleted and can no longer produce. Alternative methods of agriculture that can make the soil last longer/restore nutrients would require large increases in deforestation or massive depopulation of humanity to be even vaguely feasible. Which makes switching to a plant based diet for environmental reasons nothing but fantasy. If you actually give a shit produce your own food t's possible to do in a studio apartment even so there's really no excuses.

There's huge issues with soil erosion and the phosphorus cannot keep up with the way produce is being grown even with the advent of fertilizers and organic products without the use of pesticides. Plus we kinda need that phosphorus in those plants we eat to live. This is without mentioning the contamination of sources of water/soil by the use of pesticides and certain pesticides as well as other issues. That shit will catch up to us before we know it.

Currently there's individuals and orgs looking into alternative ways of food production. Yes methane is a gas that cows produce, yet I only see this as one of the lesser evils of the meat industry environmental disasters.

>le veganism is actually worse for the environment, monocrops kill, intensive agriculture!
If you even cared about the environment, which I doubt you do, you would realise that we would need less land to grow crops to feed people than to produce animal feed since animals are so bad at efficiency when it comes to becoming food hence reducing all of those associated evils. And intensive agriculture does far less damage than widespread agriculture could since its produces more food in comparison and therefore less crop land is needed, allowing far more land to be dedicated to natural habitat.

And I do appreciate how you keep going on about how soy is so bad for the environment, when that is one of the major components of animal feed, and is fed to humans in negligible amounts in comparison.

Furthermore, this is discounting the vast amounts of habitat destruction due to grazing land dedication. If it is “useless land” as you purport, grazing vast swathes of cattle over it will cause more destruction and desertification due to how fragile an environment it is, pic related. This grazing on top of their huge water consumption is a package for environmental disaster, discounting how they wreck local species, look up Australian dung beetles. And here in the UK in 90 percent of cases I can affirm it’s on deforested land where cattle graze.

>le buy local meat, it’s local so it’s good!
Factory farming is better for the environment in a morbid way since the animals move about less. And your local suppliers probably look like this anyway

Same hunting culling wolves in Idaho to increase deer numbers (even though they were in some of their highest numbers with the wolves)?

Anyway, deer would practically go extinct in a couple days to cope with the meat demand. Keep making excuses to kill for meat you do not need.

>fishing
Would do less damage dropping all of the USAs nuclear arsenal into the Pacific Ocean than what fishing does and has done.

>veganism is being pushed by big crops, fuck le gubmint
The American government spends $38 billion each year to subsidize the meat and dairy industries, but only 0.04 percent of that (i.e., $17 million) each year to subsidize fruits and vegetables.

I never remember being taught how I got meat on my plate as a child. Moreover, look up ag-gag laws, real insidious stuff.

I don't understand veganism, as a diet?

What's unethical about actually *eating* animal products? It seems irrelevant to me. Surely the issue is economically supporting industrial animal farming, which means veganism in terms of ethics means an economic boycott (i.e. not purchasing these products), and therefore actually eating these products is irrelevant. I see vegans obsessing about omg I ate some milk, or whatever, but that is ethically irrelevant. It's not like an animal is saved or whatever, if you don't drink milk or what have you.

So ethically I don't see the issue with eating your moms cooking, or drinking milk from the work fridge, or having your date pay for your food, or all manner of 'exceptions'. Maybe you eating these things, has some sort of round about marginal effect on demand for the product, which then has some sort of negligble but prehaps not zero effect on the farmer?

But all food supply and production involves harm to animals, and humans (through economic exploitation, or outright slavery, or harm), etc. So it's kind of moot.

Veganism doesn't save animals, all animals are going to die. it's not like if you don't buy a chicken from costco, the farmer releases one into the wild or some shit. Basically in terms of actually helping animals, veganism does nothing. Perhaps in some sort of round about way, through reducing demand for animal products (although one person not buying milk or meat, would make basically no measurable difference, and even if it did the government would just subsidize these industries further..). And what's the actual goal here? reducing the demand for animal products doesn't save animals, but would lead to a reduction in production, so really what you have is a sort of antinatalism but applied to farm animals. Is that what vegans want? But that's not animal 'loving', or advocating for animal welfare, but rather for their death, extinction, annihilation, etc. Is that what vegans want?

You’re retarded. The difference between producing an electric and gas car is negligible except for the battery, which is far worse for the environment. The battery, while electric, still needs to be charged. Unless you live near a nuclear power plant, which most retarded environmentalists fear, you are still using fossil fuels to produce that electricity. What part of this is too hard for your retarded fucking brain to understand?

Literally the only other argument you could produce is solar, wind, or hydroelectric.
>solar
Literally retarded as dick inefficient and also bad for the environment in production

Potentially useful way to produce electricity but highly dependent on expensive construction costs and, in most cases, ends up being under-utilized due to poor efficiencies and the need for a GIANT BATTERY which is still bad for the environment

veganism, as a political movement is just a wish wash of varied, sometimes contradictory, but mostly retarded goals. it ranges from efilists, to treehuggers, to those who hate humanity, to raw foodists, to fruitarians, freegans, plant based health gurus, freelee the banana girl shit, to all manner of other retarded shit.

mostly vegans want big animal agriculture to end, but what actually happens to these animals isn't discussed at all. vegans imagine they'll be set free to sanctuaries to live out their happy lives or some shit.

and I'm literally a vegan, but the movement as something with actual political end goals is a complete failure

the biggest issue I see is vegans seem to think the solution to oppressive animal agriculture is to preach everyone else into boycotting these industries. as if a sort of global boycott could even be acheived and the industries would therefore naturally restructure or die out altogether.

a lot of vegans quit because they realize how futile it is. a single person boycotting something literally basically makes zero difference, no animals are saved, nothing changes other than your health getting worse and you spending more on food and more time spend cooking
