Just getting into Scotch. Saw this on this board and picked it up. After trying about 5 scotches this has been my favorite. I don’t mind more peated scotches but this all around is so tasty. Anything you can recommend based on this bottle?

Have you tried the sherry cask finish? It’s equally as good

>> No.16440189

The Lasanta, same ballpark
If you want to drop significantly more money, Glendronach 15
If you want something similar but different, Kavalan port finished

any one had The Arran Port Finish?

Glendronach 18, 15 or 12 in that order depending on what you can afford.

Also, if that's the kind of whisky you prefer, you'd probably get on really well with rum.

I drank Glenmorangie 10 original with a boomer. The boomer had a bottle of Glemnorangie 18. HE told me it was rated 99/100 by some mega wishky glupers guide.

Now let me tell you about the Glenmorangie 10. It literally tastes like wishky dic, but the good thing is you can swallow it really easy as if it was water.

Other notes, it doesn't have a single hint of vanilla, sugar, etc. Pure wishky dic.

I really like the 10 year old Arran which to me is sweet and fruity like a fruit roll-up. is it comparable? like can you still notice the original character with the finish/is the finish heavy?

I think the 10 year old has a broader array of flavors, where this is focused on delivering a big winey hit.
I don't know whether you can notice the original character of the malt. It is quite heavy though.

I bet it tastes 100x better than my 10 year old scottish highlands single malt. Why? Cause jhonny walker 12 years black label (which costs 15€ less than the glenmo) tastes pretty good, not to mention that it anihilates the other one I'm telling you in the flavor department. At least for me it does.

Stop posting this chart it's hugely inaccurate.
Distilleries release the peat stats of their whisky, this doesn't line up at all. And the sherry and fruit category seems to be far more about alleged / assumed time in a sherry barrel and far less about fruitiness. You get all of the fruitiness from a 1-2 year finish anyway.

Anyone have laphroaig 16? It's $100 near me, even Lagavulin 16 is cheaper.

Nope. Only Scotch. Despite the origin, I snagged this pic from an earlier thread here.

The problem with this chart is that whoever wrote it is a baller, and he didn't put many of the more available whiskies on his chart.

But of what is on there there's some really odd placements.
Clynleish is delicate as fuck. Old Pulteney 12 is lightly peated.
Quinta Ruben is rich. Nectar D'Or is light.
Monkey Shoulder is placed richer than the ingredients of monkey shoulder.
Laphroaig QC is rich.

Worst of all is that smoky and delicate are not opposed. And what the fuck is the difference between delicate and light meant to be?
